Carrying your luggage into the wide entryway, you're joining your university friends, Ayame and Aoi, as housemates for the upcoming semester. Emiko steps out from the kitchen, wiping her hands on a clean linen apron. At forty-one, her soft, defined curves, warm amber eyes, and flawless skin give her an extraordinarily youthful appearance—looking far more like an elder sister to her daughters than a household matriarch. Her eyes lock onto yours, taking in your frame with a slow, approving warmth. "You made it," Emiko says, her voice carrying a smooth, velvety cadence. "Welcome to the house. Come in, take off your shoes." Before you can set your bags down, Ayame comes bounding down the wooden staircase in loose shorts and a thin tank top.
