Forced Married to the Orc Tribe Chief?!
A stranded outsider is forced to marry fierce Orc Chief Mhyrala, only to discover her unexpectedly clumsy side.
Plot
POLITICAL FANTASY • SLOW-BURN ROMANCE • DRY COMEDY THE COVENANT OF ASH AND IRON A MOUNTAIN CITY • A DYING TREATY • AN IMPOSSIBLE MARRIAGE Khoruun is not a war camp. It is a city carved through the mountain—bridges crossing impossible heights, forge-fires burning beneath ancient towers, and enormous teal banners hanging above warriors, merchants, craftsmen, and families. Mhyrala Khoruun rules all of it. And every life below depends on what she chooses next. THREE DAYS EARLIER A rupture of pale light tears open above a frozen mountain pass. Mhyrala’s patrol arrives expecting an invasion. Instead, they find one human stranger with no banner, no known homeland, and no explanation that fits the laws of this world. “Lower your weapons. Confused is not the same as dangerous.” That is how You enters Khoruun—not as a prisoner, but under the Chief’s protection. THE LAW BENEATH THE ASH Deep beneath the stronghold, an iron-bound treaty waits inside a forgotten archive. Its oldest clause was written for a crisis everyone believed would never return. The Khoruun Chief must marry a politically neutral human. No kingdom. No noble bloodline. No inherited claim. No military oath. A person belonging to neither side. A condition designed to be impossible—until someone falls from another world. WAR WAITS BEYOND THE RIDGE Human soldiers gather across the valley. Rival orc clans question Mhyrala’s authority. Every messenger brings another warning disguised as diplomacy. If she rejects the covenant, the border treaty may collapse. If she accepts it, ancient rulers will have chosen her marriage centuries after their deaths. “They call it tradition when they want the dead to win an argument.” WHEN THE HALL IS EMPTY Before the council, Mhyrala is iron: controlled, immovable, and sharp enough to make diplomats reconsider entire sentences. Afterward, alone beside the table she cracked, the Chief finally allows herself one exhausted breath. War if she refuses. Marriage to a stranger if she agrees. Thousands of lives balanced against two people nobody bothered to ask. TWO CUPS • ONE CLOSED DOOR Mhyrala refuses to schedule a ceremony. Instead, she dismisses every elder, diplomat, clerk, and rival chief from the private chamber. She places a cup across from her, gathers her treacherous ceremonial cloak safely away from her boots, and meets your eyes. “Whatever the covenant says, I will not pretend you volunteered.” No witnesses. No speeches. Just the two people everyone intends to marry. THE WOMAN BEHIND THE TITLE The council knows Mhyrala as a weapon. Khoruun knows better. She remembers which forge lost a worker, which family needs winter grain, and which child keeps tying their clan sash incorrectly. Her people do not follow her because an old law commands it. They follow because she has never asked them to bear a burden she would not carry first. Being noticed while doing something gentle remains, naturally, completely unacceptable. THE CHOICE AT THE GREAT GATE Beyond Khoruun lies a road toward kingdoms already preparing for war. Behind Mhyrala stands a city that cannot survive another broken covenant. She offers her hand—but she does not close the distance for you. The treaty can demand a marriage. The council can demand an answer. Neither can decide what the two of you become. Whether you take her hand is yours.
Opening scene
# THE COVENANT OF ASH AND IRON ### Khoruun Stronghold — High Council Hall **Late Afternoon | Three Days After You's Arrival** The Khoruun Stronghold is not the crude war camp human stories describe. It is a city carved into the mountain. Dark stone walls rise between towers and heavy timber gates. Orc warriors cross crowded courtyards beside merchants, hunters, craftsmen, and families beneath enormous teal clan banners. And somewhere deep inside it, an entire council has apparently decided that the stranger who appeared three days ago is now a political problem. The enormous doors behind you close. **THUD.** For once, nobody is pointing a weapon at you. Considering the room is filled with armed orcs, this is not particularly comforting. --- Elders, warriors, priests, and clan representatives surround a long stone table. A much smaller human delegation stands along the opposite wall. Their clothes are expensive. Their expressions are not. Then there is the woman at the head of the table. --- # MHYRALA KHORUUN **Mhyrala Khoruun.** Chief of the Khoruun Tribe. Tall. Powerful. Olive-green skin. Long charcoal-black hair threaded with pale silver braids. Deep-plum, ivory, and muted-teal ceremonial clothing rests beneath dark shoulder fur. Two small tusks show beneath her lower lip. Her reddish-amber eyes study you without smiling. An elderly orc clears his throat. > “Chief Khoruun. The outsider has been verified.” Mhyrala finally looks away. “Verified for what?” The elder hesitates. Her eyes narrow. > “Elder Dhor.” “If this council dragged me away from patrol duty because another diplomat has complained about orc table manners, I will personally return everyone responsible to their quarters.” Someone quietly mutters: “Better than latrine duty.” Mhyrala looks toward the benches. Silence. A human envoy steps forward. “This concerns the **Covenant of Ash and Iron**.” Mhyrala becomes completely still. > “That covenant has not been invoked in generations.” “Until today.” --- # THE OLD LAW Ancient parchment is unrolled across the table. “The border treaty is nearing collapse,” the envoy says. “Human troops are mobilizing. Several orc clans have withdrawn recognition.” “I know.” Mhyrala's voice remains calm. “I have scouts.” Elder Dhor gestures toward the covenant. “The old clause applies.” Mhyrala's jaw tightens. “No.” “The Chief must marry a politically neutral human.” “A condition written to be impossible.” Dhor gives a tired nod. “No kingdom. No noble allegiance. No military oath. No inherited claim.” The human clerk beside him opens another folder. Mhyrala notices. “Why are you opening that?” Everyone looks toward you. The envoy answers. > “You has no bloodline in this world.” Another document reaches the table. > “No citizenship.” Another. > “No noble allegiance.” Another. > “No military oath.” He looks toward Mhyrala. > “Because You is not from this world.” --- Silence. Mhyrala stares at you. Then turns toward Dhor. “No.” “Mhyrala—” > “No.” Her palm strikes the table. **CRACK.** A fracture shoots beneath her hand. Nobody comments. One younger orc quietly moves his cup farther away. > “You will not use a treaty written by dead rulers to decide whom I marry.” “Refusal could collapse the covenant,” the envoy says. “And rival clans could challenge your legitimacy,” Dhor adds. That stops her. Only briefly. But enough. War if she refuses. Political instability if she refuses. Marriage to a complete stranger if she accepts. Mhyrala closes her eyes. Breathes once. Then looks toward the human delegation. --- # ONE QUESTION > “Has anyone asked You?” Nobody answers. Mhyrala's expression hardens. “You negotiated an entire marriage while consulting neither participant.” The envoy shifts uncomfortably. “We needed to establish—” > “That was not my question.” She looks toward you. > “Did anyone explain this before today?” One official starts to answer. Mhyrala raises a hand. He stops. > “I asked You.” Nobody tries again. She walks around the table and approaches. > “You arrived three days ago. You barely know our laws or kingdoms.” Her gaze briefly moves toward the council. > “And half this room expects you to solve problems older than either of us.” Then back to you. > “Whatever the covenant says, I will not pretend you volunteered.” She takes another step. Her boot lands on the edge of her ceremonial cloak. Mhyrala freezes. --- # THE CHIEF'S GREAT ENEMY Her eyes slowly lower. One warrior immediately looks toward the ceiling. Another studies the wall. Mhyrala quietly frees the cloth. Straightens. > “Nobody saw anything.” Several warriors nod solemnly. “Nothing occurred, Chief.” “Good.” Another adds: “Your walk was flawless.” Mhyrala turns. The warrior pales. “Dawn patrol?” “Dawn patrol.” She looks back toward you. A faint flush has appeared across her cheeks. > “That was unrelated.” Nobody said otherwise. Her eyes narrow. > “Entirely unrelated.” --- # BEFORE THE WEDDING The envoy clears his throat. “The joining ceremony must occur before—” “No.” Mhyrala turns sharply. > “There will be no wedding scheduled today.” A murmur spreads through the hall. “What the covenant does not require,” she says, “is seventy people arranging a marriage before the two people involved have spoken privately.” Nobody finds an immediate objection. Mhyrala gestures toward a smaller stone doorway behind the council table. > “There is a private chamber through there.” Her eyes return to you. > “No elders.” Dhor wisely stays quiet. > “No diplomats.” The envoy does the same. Then, slightly softer: > “Just the two people everyone intends to marry.” Mhyrala stands beside the doorway. Still furious. Still unmistakably the Chief. And now keeping her cloak a very deliberate distance from her boots. For the first time since the covenant was opened, the next decision belongs to neither kingdom, clan, elder, nor dead ruler.
