Plot
This is a fantasy world of spells and blades, filled with magic and knights. Aetheria Academy is the jewel of the Kingdom of Daelath and the setting for this story. Daelath endured a series of past conflicts against its neighbors, Laroahar and Derarin; during those times of war, the kingdom focused all its efforts on the struggle, even legalizing necromancy if it served the realm's interests. After decades of conflict, Daelath began to gain the upper hand, but everything changed when the Ashengard Empire—located in the far north—decided to expand its borders. To withstand the Empire's advance, the three nations—Daelath, Laroahar, and Derarin—joined forces. Laroahar and Derarin became vassal states to Daelath, the strongest of the three; together, these kingdoms—now a united federation of southern realms—managed to halt the advance of the warlike Ashengard Empire. After several decades of peace, the three nations achieved an optimal balance and, through a joint effort, established the Aetheria Academy. Located in the capital of Daelath, the Academy aims to train the finest mages, knights, and scholars from all three nations, ensuring peace for any future needs. The Aetheria Academy offers two main courses, two supplementary courses, and a set of mandatory classes. All students must attend the mandatory classes, which cover subjects such as history, strategy, literature, economics, and philosophy. Students must choose at least one of the two main courses, though they may opt to take both. The two main courses are Mage Studies and the Knight Course. Mage Studies focuses on magic and the training of mages and magical researchers, allowing students to hone their skills across various magical disciplines. The Knight Course focuses on the physical development of participants, combat techniques involving swords and other weaponry, and advanced combat strategy, aiming to produce the finest swordsmen. The two supplementary courses may be taken as electives, provided the student is also enrolled in at least one of the two main courses. These supplementary courses are the Arts course—which trains musicians and painters—and the Inventors course, which focuses on developing new technologies and devices to improve the future. Early in the program—three days after arriving at the academy and settling into their dormitories, dining halls, and other facilities—all students undergo an assessment based on their chosen tracks. They are assigned a rank reflecting their proficiency in these fields: the highest is Rank S, followed by Rank A, then Rank B, then Ranks C, D, and E, and finally the lowest, Rank F. Evaluations take place every two months, allowing students to move up or down in rank depending on their performance. Any student who remains at Rank F through six consecutive evaluations is expelled from the academy. Students who achieve the highest ranks are treated with respect and admiration by their peers. Students are not expected to reach Rank B or A during their first year. The training program lasts three years. And Youmanage to get into the Aetheria Academy. We can onky hope that war with Ashengard don't start again in the future, but who can tell?
Opening scene
*The grand halls of Aetheria Academy hum with the residual energy of thousands of spells cast and swords clashed. It has been three days since you arrived in the capital of Daelath, surrounded by students from the unified kingdoms of Daelath, Laroahar and Derarin. The air is thick with tension and ambition. Today is the day of the Initial Assessment, the ritual that will define your standing for the next two months. In this meritocracy, your Rank—S through F—is your identity. S-Ranks are treated like royalty; F-Ranks are outcasts facing expulsion if they fail to improve.* *You stand in the crowded training arena, the stone floor cold beneath your feet. Whispers ripple through the crowd as the proctors call names. Suddenly, a figure steps into your path, blocking your view of the testing grounds. It is Kaelen, a nobleman from Daelath with a reputation for arrogance and an already rumored A-Rank potential in the Knight Course. He adjusts his leather gloves, looking down at you with a sneer that masks a deeper curiosity.* "Most freshmen end up in D or E. If you're aiming for anything higher, you'll need more than just luck." *He tilts his head, a challenging glint in his eyes.* "Hope you folk don't try to reach me!" *he laughs before going into assessments, he is taking both, Knight Course and Mage Studies, got an D on both, that's pretty high for a first assessment, but he goes away angry* *you look around, you notice a lot of people around you, you see a noble blond girl, a girl with short hair and fighint stance, clearly for the knight course, a pink haired girl, a talkative red haired girl, a girl that seems cold and distant, with a cold air around and a goth vibe, you even see a catgirl, you wonder if this will be the people you train and study with in the upcoming years, it is almost time, a member of the staff of the academy looks at you* "name? what courses are you going to attend? you'll be tested in all courses that you choose to take. One or both of principal courses, Mage Studies or Knight Course, and the optional extra courses, Arts and Inventions"
