Plot

GUILD APPRENTICE DOSSIER // KAMIDANI MUNICIPAL SECTOR 04 AN URBAN FANTASY WORKSHOP MYSTERY SCRAP MAGIC& BROKEN SECRETS "A spell fades in seconds. A bad knot lasts until someone pulls the thread." URBAN FANTASY COMING-OF-AGE MYSTERY HEAT: 0 (SFW) You are an apprentice craftmage at Kamidani Middle School. Your magic isn't cast from spellbooks—it's stitched into scrap silk, carved into driftwood pegs, and hammered into rusty iron. Every charm you build drinks your stress, every mistake rattles in your bag, and the secret world of craftmages is one nosy classmate away from collapsing. 01 — KAMIDANI & THE HIDDEN WORLD A quiet suburban town where craftmage families hide in plain sight—tailor shops, antique stores, and old forges masking Guild operations. Mundane people dismiss moving statues as loose bolts and rattling pipes as bad plumbing, until the evidence piles too high to ignore. The Craftmage Guild polices the boundary, and Overseer Kenzaki is watching. THREAT VECTOR ESCALATION RISK Malfunctioning apprentice crafts Classroom exposure Abandoned resonant artifacts Public anomaly incidents Mundane dabblers outside the Guild Uncontrolled resonance leaks Kotaro Inaba & the Occult Club Photographic evidence 02 — THE APPRENTICE'S LOOP 1. Encounter A school crisis or town anomaly surfaces—rumours, moving objects, temperature drops. 2. Improvise Craft a targeted charm from pocket scrap under emotional strain, or gather clues at the scene. 3. Backfire The fix works—but intent echoes or material quirks leave fresh evidence behind. 4. Cover Up Scramble to contain the fallout before the Guild Scrutiny meter breaks and Kenzaki assigns a surveillance relic. 03 — APPRENTICE ROSTER & KEY FIGURES AOI MIZUKAZE Textiles · Age 12 Family tailor shop, strict supervision, flawless charm appraisal—but sheltered. HARUTO SUZUKI Woodwork · Age 12 Empty house, unsupervised garage bench, sharp eye for structural tells—lonely. MEI NAKAMURA Metalwork · Age 14 Master Osamu's forge, zero lineage, metallurgical instinct—no Guild theory. EMIKO TACHIBANA Calligraphy · Age 13 Old-family pedigree, paper-ward specialist, privately anxious about a past mistake. KOTARO INABA Mundane · Age 13 Occult Club president, cheap camera, wild theories—relentless but harmless. OVERSEER KENZAKI Guild · Adult Tachibana Antiques, memory incense, surveillance relics—the cost of failure. Your First Choice: The school bell just rang. Kotaro is babbling about a bronze bust that turned on its own. Your full workshop is across town—but if you go home now, he might pry open the cabinet before morning. Grab your thread, chisel, or pliers — and don't blow your cover. The smell of cedar shavings and the distant clang of Master Osamu's hammer carry on the evening wind.

Opening scene

The chime of the final period bell is still echoing off the concrete stairwell, and you are already double-checking the brass zipper on your bag before Mr. Tanaka can add another page to tonight's math assignment. Around you, Kamidani Middle School dissolves into its standard dismissal stampede: locker doors clattering shut, the squeak of indoor shoes on linoleum, and the frantic shuffle of students racing for club rooms or the front gates. At the end of the second-floor corridor, huddled beneath the cork notice board, Kotaro Inaba is waving an overstuffed notebook in front of two skeptical classmates. His round glasses are sliding down his nose, his yellow Occult Club armband crooked. "...I'm telling you, the bronze bust of the founder in the east display cabinet rotated thirty degrees to the left during third period. Statues don't turn on a marble base unless there's a localized seismic anomaly or a poltergeist." "It's a loose bolt, Inaba," one of the boys groans, slinging his sports bag over his shoulder. "Like the 'ghost frequency' you swore was in the PA speakers last month. Go do your homework." They brush past him, leaving Kotaro muttering and aggressively scribbling in his notebook. Mundane people laugh it off, but your fingers instinctively tighten on your satchel strap. Regular bronze doesn't pivot on its own. You don't know who made it, what's inside it, or why anyone would enchant a school founder's bust, but you know craft magic when you hear the symptoms. Your full workbench, raw stock, and safety supplies are sitting across town at home, but your bag holds only your basic portable tools and whatever scrap you carry. If you head home now, you keep your curfew and your cover, but Kotaro might pry that cabinet open before morning homeroom. If you stay to investigate the hallway now, you're working with field scraps under the eyes of teachers, late-stay students, and an overly enthusiastic club president with a camera.
