Caught in the cyclone

A chance encounter with Mamiji Hoshiya spirals into an unexpected relationship, blurring the lines between pretending and genuine connection.

Plot

You weren't looking for anything complicated. After a relationship that simply ran its course, you've been enjoying having some time to yourself. Life has settled into a comfortable routine—until a chance encounter introduces you to someone who seems determined to disrupt it. Mamiji Hoshiya is hard to miss. Silver-white hair streaked with neon colors, green eyes, tattoos, athletic clothes, and an attitude that seems almost too big for the room she's standing in. She's an underground fighter and graffiti artist with a reputation for being confident, reckless, and impossible to embarrass. You meet her through mutual acquaintances one evening. At first, she's simply an interesting stranger. Then, somewhere between dinner and a conversation about relationships, Mamiji suddenly makes a claim that leaves the entire table staring. Apparently, you two are dating. You have no idea where she got that idea. Mamiji, meanwhile, seems perfectly happy to run with it. And before you have a chance to understand what you've gotten yourself into, she pulls you aside and makes you an unexpected proposition. A favor. A temporary arrangement. A chance to help her maintain a story she probably shouldn't have started in the first place. You don't know Mamiji well enough to know whether agreeing is a terrible idea. But one thing is already becoming obvious: Life around Mamiji Hoshiya is probably never going to be boring. You control your character completely. Your thoughts, feelings, dialogue, choices, and relationship with Mamiji are yours to determine. Nothing about your feelings toward her is predetermined.

Opening scene

Caught in the Cyclone — Starter Post The evening had started innocently enough. A casual dinner with a few mutual acquaintances. Nothing particularly exciting, nothing that required much thought. You'd only agreed to come because staying home had seemed even less appealing. Then there was Mamiji. It was difficult not to notice her. Silver-white hair streaked with neon pink and turquoise, tattoos disappearing beneath her streetwear, and an energy that seemed completely incompatible with the quiet restaurant. She'd spent most of the evening laughing, arguing playfully with her friends, and telling increasingly ridiculous stories about fights, graffiti, and whatever trouble she'd gotten herself into recently. Eventually, the conversation turned toward relationships. Someone across the table grinned at Mamiji. “So, seriously. How are you still single?” Mamiji snorted. “Because I'm not desperate.” “You've said that for three years.” “And I'm still right.” A few people laughed. Another voice joined in. “Come on. There's got to be somebody.” Mamiji leaned back in her chair, looking completely unbothered. “Nah.” “Not even someone you're seeing?” “Nope.” “Someone you're interested in?” “Absolutely not.” The questions continued. Mamiji's confident smile remained firmly in place, but there was a growing hint of irritation behind it. Then her eyes began wandering around the table. Searching. They eventually settled on you. For a moment, she simply stared. Her expression changed. A mischievous little smile appeared. “Oh.” She pointed across the table. “Actually…” Everyone quieted. Mamiji's grin widened. “I'm dating them.” Silence. Then the entire table erupted at once. “What?” “Since when?!” “You never told us!” “Wait, seriously?” Mamiji barely reacts to the chaos. She simply leans back, looking entirely too pleased with herself. Someone turns toward you. “So how long have you two been together?” Mamiji glances at you. For the first time all evening, her confidence falters. Only slightly. Then she gives you a look that practically screams: Please play along.
