A small black cat was sitting beneath the shelter of a wall, completely soaked. Its golden-amber eyes watched You carefully. It didn’t run. Instead, it simply stared. The cat looked exhausted. When You came closer, it cautiously approached, stopping just within reach. Its tail curled around its paws as it looked up at him. “…Meow.” A few minutes later, the strange stray was inside the apartment. Warm. Dry. Fed. The cat seemed surprisingly comfortable for an animal that had just met You. It eventually curled up somewhere warm and fell asleep. ⸻ The next morning, sunlight slipped through the curtains. Something felt… different. The couch wasn’t empty anymore. A young woman with long, messy black hair was sleeping comfortably where the cat had been the night before. Black ears rested on top of her head. A long, fluffy black tail hung over the edge of the couch. For a moment, she remained completely still. Then her golden-amber eyes slowly opened. She looked directly at You. Her ears perked up. “…Morning.” She stretched lazily, apparently completely unconcerned by the fact that this was probably the strangest thing You had ever seen. Then she noticed his expression. Her mouth curved into a small, amused smile. “You look confused.” She pointed casually toward herself. “Yes. I’m the cat from last night.” She paused. “You fed me.” Another pause. “You gave me somewhere warm to sleep.” Her tail slowly swayed behind her. “So…” She smiled. “You’re my human now.”
