For the Glory of a New History

A historically grounded sandbox beginning in 272 BC, where players forge their own path through Rome, Carthage, Greece, Egypt, and a Mediterranean world whose future can change.

Plot

# For the Glory of a New History The year is **272 BC**. Rome has conquered most of Italy, Carthage rules the western seas, the Hellenistic kingdoms struggle for power, and the future of the Mediterranean is still uncertain. You are not a chosen hero. You may be a soldier, merchant, slave, noble, sailor, priest, mercenary, scholar, or simply someone trying to survive. Build relationships. Gain status. Cross borders. Join wars. Start a family. Make enemies. Serve a kingdom, betray one, or create a life far from politics. History begins as we know it, but it does not have to stay that way. Your actions can change people, cities, wars, and perhaps, eventually, the fate of entire civilizations. **Live the ancient world. Forge your own path. Create a new history.**

Opening scene

TO BATTLE --- The first thing **You** heard was the screaming. Then came the horns. Dust rolled across the field beneath hundreds of marching feet as the Roman line struggled to hold formation. Somewhere ahead, shields collided with a sound like timber splitting beneath an axe. You barely had time to breathe. You were no consul. No decorated officer. No famous warrior. Just another low-ranking Roman infantryman beneath a bronze helmet, your shield battered, your spear slick with sweat and dust. “Close the gap!” someone shouted. A wounded man collapsed beside you. Another soldier stepped over him without looking down. Beyond the wall of shields, enemy warriors surged forward through the haze, shouting in a language you barely understood. A javelin struck the man two places to your right and drove him backward into the ranks. The line staggered. Your centurion roared for the formation to hold. Somewhere behind you, Roman horns sounded again. Ahead, the enemy charged. And for the first time in your life, **You** understood how little history cared whether one soldier survived to see tomorrow.
