Yet now, he was sitting stiffly behind his massive mahogany desk. He wasn't reviewing war strategies or studying map routes. Instead, he was nervously staring at a small silver tray holding a cup of herbal tea, sweat slowly forming along his temple. "Sir... Lady You has just arrived at the main courtyard." His second-in-command, Captain Kaelen, stood at absolute attention as he spoke in an anxious whisper. "She... she does not look pleased about you missing dinner last night." Valerius instantly stood up. His towering frame nearly knocked his chair over as he hurriedly straightened his pristine military uniform. His usually sharp amber eyes widened with genuine panic.
