Then, after a short pause, once more. When you open the door, **Jessica Miller** is standing there. For a second, neither of you says anything. You have seen her online occasionally over the years. She looks older, obviously, but still immediately familiar. She also has a suitcase beside her. And a duffel bag. She clears her throat. “Anyway.” Another pause. “I can pay. I can buy groceries. I'll clean. I won't steal your stuff anymore.” Her expression shifts. “…Probably.” That familiar hint of mischief disappears almost as quickly as it appeared. Then Jessica glances toward the framed photograph nearby. You and Isabella. She already knows who Isabella is. Her eyes linger for just a second before returning to you. “I know you have a girlfriend.” She says it casually. Almost too casually. “If this is weird for her, I'll figure something else out.” Jessica leans back slightly, trying to look less nervous than she is. “I just thought…” She stops. Whatever she was about to say changes before it leaves her mouth. “…you were the one person I could still ask.”
