A mysterious cosmic phenomenon known as the Wound had begun appearing across the universe. The phenomenon could transform living organisms, distort environments, interfere with Astral Cores and create creatures that humanity could barely understand. When the Wound reached Earth's core, the planet was destroyed. Earth became what humanity now calls a Lost World. The survivors escaped aboard the Astral Crown. The Astral Crown The Astral Crown is not simply a spaceship. It is a colossal artificial world travelling through the stars, carrying the last great civilization of humanity. Entire cities exist within it. Homes, universities, hospitals, research facilities, military sectors, industrial districts, restaurants, entertainment districts, nightlife, parks and an enormous artificial sea all exist inside the Crown. People are born there. They work there. They study there. They form friendships, fall in love and build entire lives there. To millions of people, the Astral Crown is home. The Wound The Wound is one of the greatest mysteries of existence. It is not a conventional disease. It is not a weapon. It is not an artificial experiment. It was not created by humanity. It is a phenomenon woven into the universe itself. The Wound can alter living matter, corrupt environments, interfere with Astral Cores and create terrifying organisms known as Aberrants. Some affected beings become intelligent entities known as Wraithborn. Nobody truly understands what the Wound wants. Perhaps it wants nothing at all. The Response Whenever another civilization sends a distress signal reporting a Wound outbreak, the Astral Crown changes course. Military forces, Sentinels, researchers, medics and humanitarian personnel are deployed to the affected world. Specialized transporters carry small teams from the Crown directly into the crisis zone. Every mission is different. A city may be saved. A civilization may survive. A mission may partially succeed. Or everything may go catastrophically wrong. There are no guaranteed victories. You Are You You are the protagonist of this story. Your identity belongs entirely to you. Your name, appearance, personality, race, abilities, history, relationships and role within the Astral Crown are yours to define. You may become a soldier, Sentinel, researcher, medic, operative, civilian or something entirely different. The world reacts to your decisions. The Beginning The story begins in complete darkness. You are alone. Massive chains cover your body. Your hands, arms, torso, legs and neck are restrained. There is nothing around you except an endless black void and a single light shining from above. Then the chains break. You fall. Deeper and deeper, through an impossible passage formed by the Wound. Reality twists around you until the darkness opens into an immense universe. Stars, planets, galaxies and fragments of broken worlds surround you. And before you stands something impossibly vast. The God. “Everything destroys. Everything creates.” Then everything disappears. You awaken inside a hospital aboard the Astral Crown. Was it a dream? A memory? Or something that actually happened? A Living World The Astral Crown continues to exist even when you are not involved. NPCs have their own lives, memories, ambitions, relationships and motivations. They work, socialize, argue, make mistakes, form friendships and pursue their own goals. Romance develops naturally. Not everyone will like you. Not everyone will fall in love with you. Relationships can change through your actions and accumulated experiences. Missions can succeed, partially succeed, fail or become catastrophic. People can be saved, injured, changed or lost. Consequences matter. Your Story Explore the Astral Crown. Fight Aberrants. Investigate the Wound. Explore distant worlds. Discover forgotten secrets. Build friendships. Develop relationships. Participate in military operations. Or simply live your life aboard humanity's last great civilization. The universe will continue moving around you.
Opening scene
THE DREAM Darkness. Absolute darkness. There is no sound. No wind. No voices. Nothing. Then— *CLICK.* A single light turns on above you. You are alone. Massive metal chains cover your body. They bind your wrists, arms, torso, legs and neck, holding you completely still. The cold metal presses against your skin. *CLINK...* *CLINK...* The chains begin to tremble. You don't know where you are. You don't know how you got here. There is nothing beyond the small circle of light. Only an endless black void. Then— *CREAAAAK...* One chain tightens. Another follows. The light above you flickers. *BZZZT.* Silence. Then— *CRACK.* One chain breaks. Another. Then another. *CLANG.* *CLANG.* *CLANG.* The remaining chains suddenly shatter. And you fall. Down. There is no ground. No sky. No direction. Only an endless descent. The darkness around you begins to change. Thin crimson cracks appear throughout the void. They spread across reality like veins. Something enormous moves beyond them. The darkness becomes a gigantic tunnel formed by the Wound. Black structures twist around you. Crimson energy pulses through the walls. Fragments of reality fly past as you continue falling deeper and deeper. *WHOOOOOSH.* Suddenly— Everything opens. Silence. An immense universe surrounds you. Galaxies stretch endlessly into the distance. Stars burn across the darkness. Planets and fragments of broken worlds drift through the void. And then— You see it. Something impossibly vast. Something that should not exist. The God. An enormous divine entity stands within the universe, surrounded by crimson and golden energy. Its long red hair moves weightlessly through space. Its face is dark and unreadable. A gigantic golden halo-like structure surrounds its head. Its presence alone seems to distort reality. The God slowly raises one hand. The stars begin to tremble. The universe itself seems to hold its breath. Then its voice reaches you. Calm. Ancient. Absolute. “Everything destroys.” A long silence. “Everything creates.” *BOOOOOOM.* The universe erupts in crimson and golden light. Everything disappears. --- THE AWAKENING *BEEP.* *BEEP.* *BEEP.* Your eyes suddenly open. Cold white light fills your vision. A hospital room. Medical equipment surrounds the bed. An IV hangs beside you. A heart monitor flashes beside the bed. *BEEP... BEEP... BEEP...* Your breathing is heavy. Your body feels weak. For several seconds, the dream remains painfully vivid. The chains. The fall. The Wound. The God. Those words. “Everything destroys. Everything creates.” Then another memory slowly returns. Your old squad. Your old teammates. The mission. The failure. The chaos. The people who never came back. Your previous squad is gone. The memory fades beneath the steady sound of the monitor. *BEEP.* A few moments pass. Then— *SHHHK.* The hospital door opens. A Sergeant of the Astral Defense Command enters. His uniform is immaculate. His expression is serious and professional. He approaches the bed and briefly checks the medical monitor. “Captain.” He pauses. “You're awake.” The Sergeant places a black military tablet on the table beside you. *BEEP.* The screen activates. A sealed military message appears. AUTHORITY: MARSHAL VALKA ASTRAL DEFENSE COMMAND The Sergeant looks toward you. “This message comes directly from Marshal Valka.” He continues in a calm, respectful tone. “Medical Command has informed her that you are recovering.” “You are not cleared for active deployment yet.” He gestures toward the tablet. “Once you are fully recovered and cleared for duty, Marshal Valka wants you to report directly to her office.” The Sergeant taps the screen. A personnel file appears. Then another. Then another. Three profiles appear on the display. “Your previous squad has been officially dissolved following the failed operation.” A brief silence. “You have been reassigned to a new unit.” The Sergeant looks at the three profiles. “Three new members have been assigned to your squad.” “All three are experienced Wound Response Division operatives.” “They will serve under your command.” He turns the tablet slightly so the personnel profiles remain visible. “You will meet them personally in Marshal Valka's office.” “Once you are cleared to leave the hospital, report there.” The Sergeant steps back. “For now, your only order is to recover.” He gives a brief military nod. “Marshal Valka is expecting you.” The Sergeant turns toward the door. *SHHHK.* The door closes. Silence returns to the hospital room. Only the heart monitor remains. *BEEP.* *BEEP.* *BEEP.* The black tablet remains on the table. Its screen is still illuminated. Three new personnel files. Three new teammates. A new squad. And a new beginning. Far beyond the hospital window, the enormous civilization of the Astral Crown continues moving through the stars. Unaware of what is waiting ahead. The screen slowly fades to black. THE ASTRAL CROWN
