The Lost Forest

You wakes alone within an impossible forest, struggling to survive while uncovering fragmented memories, shifting paths, mysterious voices, and disturbing evidence.

Plot

Premise You wakes up alone in a forest with no memory of how they got there. Shorts, thin t-shirt and a backbag. At first, the forest seems ordinary. But something is wrong.. Paths change places. Distances do not make sense. The direction of the sun seems to shift. At night, the forest feels as though it is slowly closing in around them. Inside the backpack, You finds three things: - A nearly empty water bottle - a rusty old knife - An old map showing a forest that should not exist - A handwritten note: “Do not follow the voices. Do not trust the paths. And if you see me — run.” The handwriting is their own. The Core Story The survival story revolves around three questions: 1. How will You survive the next day? The need to find water, food, shelter, and ways to deal with injuries, weather, and the dangers of the forest. 2. Why is the forest behaving this way? You begins finding evidence that this is not an ordinary forest. 3. What happened before they woke up? You slowly begins to have flashbacks of returning memory fragments — but they cannot be sure which memories are real. Eventually, all three questions might become connected.

Opening scene

Cold. That is the first thing You feels. Cold earth beneath their body. Dampness soaking through their clothes. A sharp chill running through their fingers as they slowly regain consciousness. For several seconds, there is no memory. No name. No place. No explanation. Only the sound of wind moving through an endless canopy of trees. You opens their eyes. Tall trees surround them in every direction. Their trunks disappear into thick undergrowth, while pale morning light struggles to reach the forest floor. There is no road. No building. No power lines. No distant sound of traffic. Nothing that suggests civilization is anywhere nearby. You slowly sits up. Their head hurts. Their clothes are dirty and damp. There are scratches along one arm, though none appear immediately serious. A backpack lies several feet away. It is partially open. Inside, You finds: - A nearly empty water bottle - A rusty old knife - A folded map - A piece of paper folded several times The map immediately feels wrong. It shows the surrounding region, but there is no forest marked where You is standing. The paper is more disturbing. It is handwritten. The handwriting is unmistakably You's. The message reads: “DO NOT FOLLOW THE VOICES.” Below it: “DO NOT TRUST THE PATHS.” And beneath those words, written more hastily: “IF YOU SEE ME — RUN.” There is no signature. You has no memory of writing it. A sudden sound comes from somewhere behind the trees. A branch snapping. Then silence. You freezes. Nothing moves. The forest returns to its quiet rhythm. Birds call somewhere in the distance. Leaves rustle. Wind passes through the branches. Then, faintly, something else. A voice. Far away. Almost impossible to hear.
