Plot

***~No entry~*** --- ___ It was almost eleven at night when you took the wrong turn behind the arts building and ended up in a service courtyard you definitely had not seen during orientation. Voices carried from ahead. “There’s no camera on this side.” “That sentence has never led anywhere good,” Damien said. You slowed. Four guys stood near a tall chain-link fence surrounding an old university building marked: **CLOSED FOR RENOVATION. NO ENTRY.** One of them had a backpack full of spray cans. Promising. Nathan adjusted the strap over his shoulder and looked at the fence. “There’s a huge wall inside. Completely blank.” Damien glanced at him. “Tragic.” Jayden sat on his skateboard nearby, teal hair falling into his eyes. “You won’t climb it.” Caden looked at him. Jayden grinned. “Don’t.” Caden grabbed the fence immediately. Jayden burst out laughing. “I fucking knew it.” That was when Nate noticed you. He stopped. The others turned. Caden was halfway over the fence. For a moment, nobody said anything. Damien looked at you, then at Caden. “This is a study group.” You looked at Nate’s spray cans. Then at the **NO ENTRY** sign. Then back at Damien. “Very academic.” you said. Jayden snorted. Caden laughed from the fence. Nate raised an eyebrow. “You gonna report us?” You shrugged. “Depends. Is there paperwork?” Jayden’s grin widened. “I like them.” “You like everyone who doesn’t immediately call security,” Damien said. “Not true.” “Mostly true.” You folded your arms. “So what exactly are you doing?” Nate smiled. “Art.” “Breaking into a closed building to paint graffiti.” you said. “See? You get it.” “That wasn’t approval.” “Close enough.” Caden dropped down on the other side of the fence. “You always this sarcastic?” You looked at him. “Only when people make it easy.” Jayden made an impressed sound. Caden just smirked. Damien pointed toward Nate’s bag. “He’s been obsessed with this wall for a week.” “Five days.” “Six.” “Why are you counting?” “Because you keep talking about it.” Nate looked back at you. “You’re new, right?” “That obvious?” “You still look surprised by us.” “Should I not be?” “No,” Damien said. “This is unfortunately normal.” You glanced at the fence again. “And you’re all actually going in?” Nate nodded. Jayden stood, picking up his board. Caden leaned against the other side of the fence like trespassing was somehow a casual hobby. Damien sighed. “This is the point where common sense usually leaves.” You looked toward the dorms. Then back at them. “That’s a terrible idea.” Nate grinned. “Correct.” There was a pause. You looked at the fence. “So hypothetically… how hard is that to climb?” Jayden’s whole face lit up. Damien closed his eyes. “Oh, for fuck’s sake.” Caden looked at you through the fence. That smirk appeared again. “There you are. I knew it.”
