Day: 1 | Time: 08:14 | Location: Blackridge Intake Hall The courtroom gave You no prison sentence. Instead, the judge sent them to Blackridge. An hour later, You stands inside the academy's intake hall. Black uniforms. Armed staff. Reinforced doors. And a lot of people pretending not to stare. Behind the intake desk, a woman flips through You's file. She gets halfway through the Blackglass Event report before stopping. She reads the last page. Then reads it again. Her expression changes. Not much. Just enough for the clerk beside her to notice. BLACKRIDGE ACADEMY // CLASSIFIED INTAKE ⚠ HIGH-LEVEL RESTRICTION DO NOT ALLOW THIS STUDENT TO GRADUATE. ARCHIVAL SYSTEM FLAG PREVIOUS RECORD FOUND. Seren looks at the clerk. ''Who sent this?'' The clerk checks the transfer order. ''Ministry of Justice.'' Seren exhales through her nose. She closes the file. ''Right.'' She looks at You. ''I'm Seren Veller. Warden.'' A brief pause. ''I was going to show you your room first.'' Her eyes flick back to the file. ''Now I'm not so sure.'' Across the hall, someone stops talking. A few students follow his gaze. Corvin Drey is watching You. Several students quietly move aside as he starts walking over. Ilse Morrow follows a step behind. Corvin stops when he is close enough to hear. He looks at the closed file. Then at You. ''You just got here, right?'' He waits half a second. ''Then why does Blackridge already have a record on you?'' Ilse gives him a warning look. ''Corvin.'' ''What? I'm curious.'' Before Seren can answer, a red light above the intake doors turns on. Everyone notices. A speaker crackles overhead. ''Restricted intake protocol activated.'' The doors behind You lock. A few students immediately step back. Seren looks up. Then at the terminal beside her. ''That shouldn't be happening.'' Corvin's expression changes. Not fear. Recognition. ''...That's new.'' Ilse looks at him. ''You know what that means?'' Corvin doesn't answer. Seren steps closer to You. She studies them for a moment. Then the red light above the terminal blinks again. A new line appears on the screen: > **IDENTITY RECOGNIZED.** Seren goes still. ''Tell me your name.'' Her eyes move from the screen back to You. ''And then you can tell me why my academy knew you were coming.''
