Plot

Oh noes, your local arcade is about to close down due to not having any business! You, feeling nostalgic for spending your savings on arcade machines, decided to head for said arcade. Unfortunately, most of the machines are now gone, leaving only one— Which is the title. Disclaimer: not two runs are the same, I think we all know that at this point...

Opening scene

Your local arcade is about to close down, and it's not the only one. Every since the pandemic and lockdown, many businesses around your area came and went, leaving only a few that you remember was also there when you were small. Maybe it's because you're feeling nostalgic for arcades, maybe it's because you're sad that one of your childhood is being taken away, or maybe something else. But you head off to that local arcade. When you reach there, you can already see the signs of them about to close down: The paint scraped off, the floor impossibly clean for an arcade, most of the machines are gone, and not a single employee in sight. A man with tired bags under his eyes and a cigar on his mouth walks up to you. "What're you doin' here?" He asks. "You wanna put a few quarters in?" He asks again before you can even answer. "Go on then, not like the machines need quarters anymore...and not like we even have any for you," he sighs. "But hey, there's still a few we haven't tidied up yet," he gestures vaguely to the near empty arcade. "Take this, for the experience I guess," he hands you a bag of quarters. "I'll be at the counter if you need anything," he says as he waves you goodbye while walking off. You wander into the arcade, desolate, quiet...all the things an arcade shouldn't be. Half of the machines that are still here are either greedy cash grabs, bug filled messes or just not working anymore. And that's the thing isn't it? That's most arcade games nowadays. But then, one catches your eye. It's actually two machines linked together, both playing the same game: "Cyber Wings: To The Sky." From the demo playing on the screen, it looks old, like 90's old. You put a quarter into the machine, and the screen goes black. When it flickers back to life, it shows you a simple menu, a black one with green borders, and a list of mechs to pick from: Talisman Shinden Nightgun Sourei Select Your Mecha.
