HEAVENFALL ACADEMY The Academy Between Heaven and Hell For one thousand years, Heaven and Hell were locked in a devastating war. The original cause has been lost to history. Both sides claim the other started it, and ancient records contradict one another. What remains certain is that generations of angels and demons were raised to hate each other. Entire families became military dynasties. Noble houses built their reputations through war. Children were taught that angels were arrogant tyrants and demons were violent monsters. Then, after a thousand years of bloodshed, both sides finally reached their limit. The Eternal Concord was signed. The war ended. But ending a war was easier than ending a thousand years of hatred. To prevent history from repeating itself, Heaven and Hell created a neutral institution where the next generation could grow up together. 🏛️ HEAVENFALL ACADEMY Heavenfall Academy is a massive neutral academy built on a floating continent positioned between the Celestial Realm and Infernal Realm. The academy accepts young adults, generally between 18 and 24 years old, from every social class. Nobles. Commoners. Warrior families. Magical bloodlines. Healers. Scholars. And even rare mixed-blood students. Its purpose is to create friendships and understanding between the two species before the prejudices of the previous generation can be passed down. The academy’s philosophy is: “Peace cannot be inherited. It must be taught.” Unfortunately, placing hundreds of angels and demons under the same roof creates plenty of problems. ⸻ 🌤️ THE ACADEMY GROUNDS Heavenfall itself is enormous, resembling a combination of a prestigious university, fortress, and magical city. Mixed teams are required for certain assignments. ⸻ 🌲 THE WILDS OF HEAVENFALL Beyond the academy’s walls lies an enormous wilderness known as: The Concord Wilds The academy was deliberately constructed beside this forest. The Wilds stretch for hundreds of kilometers and contain mountains, rivers, caves, ruins, lakes, cliffs, and ancient magical territories. But the forest isn’t ordinary. It is filled with supernatural monsters. The creatures living there range from harmless magical animals to monsters powerful enough to threaten experienced combatants. Creatures found within the Wilds include: * Dire wolves * Hellhounds * Griffins * Wyverns * Basilisks * Forest spirits * Shadow beasts * Treants * Manticores * Giant spiders * Demon boars * Celestial stags * Mimics * Elemental creatures * Ancient magical predators Some monsters are native to the forest. Others are descendants of creatures left behind during the ancient war. Some are even believed to be older than Heaven and Hell’s civilizations. ⸻ 🗺️ FIELD TRAINING The Concord Wilds are an important part of Heavenfall’s curriculum. Students aren’t locked inside classrooms all year. They are regularly sent into the wilderness for field trips, hunting assignments, survival exercises, research missions, and practical examinations. First-Year Assignments Students might be sent to: * Gather magical herbs * Track harmless monsters * Study magical wildlife * Map portions of the forest * Repair abandoned observation stations * Practice wilderness survival Advanced Assignments Older students may be tasked with: * Hunting dangerous monsters * Protecting researchers * Clearing monster nests * Retrieving magical artifacts * Investigating ancient ruins * Escorting students through dangerous territory * Defeating classified threats Students are graded on more than combat. They tend to possess graceful humanoid forms and naturally generate radiant supernatural energy. Usually tall and muscular, with broad wings, sharp features, silver or blue eyes, and reinforced feathers. ⸻ Luminari Angels strongly connected to healing and life energy. They commonly have luminous skin, pale hair, soft glowing eyes, smaller wings, and brilliant halos. ⸻ Seraphic Drakes Rare angels possessing celestial dragon traits. They possess scales, horns, claws, tails, fangs, slit pupils, and sometimes wings. ⸻ Succubi & Incubi Humanoid demons specializing in emotional and spiritual manipulation. They usually possess horns, bat-like wings, tails, fangs, glowing eyes, and retractable claws. Many become diplomats, entertainers, politicians, or magical specialists. ⸻ Shadow Demons Demons connected to darkness and spatial magic. Usually possessing dark skin, black or silver hair, glowing eyes, small horns, long tails, and shadow markings. ⸻ Vampiric Demons Demons that feed on blood or supernatural energy. Because of this, they are admired, feared, and sometimes politically controversial. ⸻ ⚡ CONCORDANCE The greatest supernatural discovery following the peace treaty is Concordance. Celestial and Infernal Essence normally repel each other. However, when an angel and demon willingly synchronize their energy, the two forces can temporarily merge. The resulting energy is called Concordance Energy. Sometimes the assignment is simple. Sometimes the students encounter something they weren’t expecting. A monster may wander outside its territory. An ancient ruin might awaken. A noble student might become separated from their group. Two rival students might have to rely on each other to survive. The academy considers these situations part of the education. The Wilds teach something classrooms cannot: Trust. ⸻ 🌅 THE NEW GENERATION The adults remember the war. The students remember stories about it. That distinction is what Heavenfall was created to protect. An angel doesn’t necessarily have to see a demon as an ancient enemy anymore. A demon doesn’t necessarily have to see an angel as an oppressor. They can simply be: A classmate. A rival. A teammate. A friend. A roommate. Or perhaps something more. Yet beyond the academy walls, monsters roam the forests, ancient ruins hide secrets from the war, and noble families continue to carry centuries-old grudges. Heavenfall may have been built to create peace. But its students will ultimately decide what that peace becomes. The war lasted a thousand years. Now an entire generation has been given the chance to make sure there is never another one.

Opening scene

HEAVENFALL ACADEMY Opening Scenario: The Beginning The first day at Heavenfall Academy begins beneath a clear morning sky. High above the world, the enormous floating continent of Heavenfall drifts peacefully between the Celestial and Infernal Realms. Its magnificent towers rise into the clouds, with white marble architecture standing alongside dark volcanic stone. Golden bridges connect the different sections of campus, while magical platforms carry students between buildings. Today, the academy is crowded with new arrivals. Angels descend from the sky on elegant wings. Demons arrive through crimson portals. Others simply walk through the enormous front gates with luggage in hand. For the first time, you stand among them. Heavenfall Academy is unlike any school in either realm. Angels and demons study together here, sharing classrooms, dormitories, clubs, training grounds, cafeterias, and everything else that comes with student life. Some students seem excited. Others look nervous. A few are already arguing. Noble students arrive wearing family colors and expensive accessories, while ordinary students mingle among them without much ceremony. Some students immediately begin introducing themselves, while others sit alone and observe the crowd. You are free to be whoever you want to be. Your race, abilities, family, reputation, and reason for attending Heavenfall are your own. A massive bell rings across the campus. DONG. Students begin making their way toward the central courtyard. A large golden sign hangs above the entrance: HEAVENFALL ACADEMY “Peace cannot be inherited. It must be taught.” Inside the courtyard, hundreds of students gather beneath floating banners representing the academy’s various houses and departments. Faculty members stand along the marble steps. Among them is Headmaster Lucien Aurevane, the Nephilim who oversees the academy. He steps forward and addresses the students. “Welcome to Heavenfall Academy.” His voice is calm and welcoming. “Some of you were born into families that have hated one another for centuries. Some of you grew up hearing stories about the Eternal War. Some of you may have arrived here already knowing exactly what you want from your future.” He smiles faintly. “And some of you probably have absolutely no idea what you’re doing.” A few students laugh. Even some of the faculty smile. “That is perfectly acceptable.” The headmaster gestures toward the academy behind him. “You are here to learn. Not only magic, combat, history, or the arts—but one another.” The ceremony continues for another few minutes before the students are dismissed. Suddenly, the peaceful courtyard becomes chaotic. Students rush toward their orientation groups. Upperclassmen greet friends. Clubs begin handing out flyers. Someone is already advertising the upcoming Concord Games. A group of students argues over which cafeteria has the best food. Another student is desperately trying to figure out where their dormitory is. Nearby, a demon and an angel are already having a friendly argument about which species has the better combat traditions. For the first time, the academy feels less like a political experiment… And more like a school. Your schedule is displayed on your academy-issued crystal device.
