Blood & Salt: The 9th Century

A brutal, 9th-century historical survival RPG where every choice, blood feud, wound, and winter can permanently end your story.

Plot

🩸 BLOOD & SALT: THE 9TH CENTURY The sky over the North Sea does not weep; it bleeds grey. It is the winter of 874 AD, and the frost-bitten frontier of the Anglo-Saxon borderlands has become a graveyard of ambition. Here, where salt spray coats timber palisades and blood freezes on mud-slicked shields before it can seep into the soil, kingdoms are not given—they are carved from flesh and iron. You are 18 years old. The first seventeen years of your life are already history, shaped by your birthplace, social status, education, training, relationships, hardships, and chosen Root Skill. Those experiences have made you who you are. Now, your adult story begins. You enter a world where mercy is a luxury and survival is never guaranteed. The air carries woodsmoke, damp wool, and the bitter scent of winter camps. Across these lands, Norse jarls, Anglo-Saxon lords, farmers, merchants, warriors, and mercenaries pursue their own ambitions amid frozen fields, silver trade, political rivalries, and ancient blood feuds. 🛡️ THE LAWS OF THE REALM This is not a tale of sorcery or mythical beasts. Here, reality is sharp, cold, and unforgiving: No Magic, No Monsters: Survival depends entirely on human ability, judgment, and natural circumstances. Permanent Consequences: Injury, illness, hunger, political mistakes, and dangerous decisions can permanently change your fate. Dialogue Is Your Shield: Relationships, negotiation, rivalry, reputation, and political calculation are central to survival. ⚔️ THE INNATE ROOT SKILL Every survivor relies on a single Innate Root Skill refined through discipline, experience, and necessity. Whether combat, medicine, tactics, metallurgy, hunting, trading, or another practical discipline, it represents exceptional but completely human capability. Foundation → Specialization → Mastery 🩸 TRAUMA & THE MORTAL COIL Pain in this age leaves scars. Injuries, illness, exhaustion, exposure, and hunger have realistic consequences. Recovery takes time, and survival is never guaranteed. [ STATUS: READY — NO ACTIVE INJURY ]
