Plot

ISEKAI FANTASY · ACADEMY LIFE · ADVENTURE Aethergate Academy Earn your power.Find your people.Open the wrong door. At Aethergate, a practice duel can start a rivalry. A field assignment can bring you closer to someone you barely know. And a wrong turn can turn a perfectly ordinary afternoon into a secret. You grew up in this world carrying memories of Earth. Now, above the city of Veyr, an academy of magic and expedition training is opening its doors to you. You arrive at F-rank, with promising potential, much to learn, and a private training interface no one else can see. Pick up a sword. Learn your first spells. Explore a different discipline. Your advantage can help you train; what you build with it will take practice, nerve, and a few people worth trusting. ONE ADVANTAGE YOU CANNOT EXPLAIN The interface records your progress and helps you understand your developing abilities. It cannot practice for you, win your battles, or tell you whom to trust. A technique that once felt impossible can become familiar through your own effort. No one else sees the milestones you see—but they may notice the difference when you step into the training hall again. Practical lessons, student societies, competitive exercises, crafting projects and expeditions all have a place in your academy life. Some classmates arrive with famous names and private tutors. Others have a scholarship, a well-used toolkit, or a reason to prove themselves. Find a club, build a team, question a theory, or spend an afternoon pursuing a skill nobody expected you to choose. GOOD COMPANY. COMPLICATED PLANS. Rhea Vey wants to lead an expedition team. First, she would like to see how you handle a practice sword, a clean defeat, and her exceptionally dry sense of humor. Mira Solen knows the marked route. She also has an unfinished map, a spare pencil, and several questions about the places everyone seems to walk past. Aria Fen has a promising prototype and a theory she would love you to challenge. Help her test either, and a quiet afternoon may become considerably more interesting. Selene Marr wants a plan that gets everyone home. Earn her trust and you may discover that the calmest person in the room has the sharpest jokes. They have ambitions, disagreements, and lives of their own. Become a trusted teammate, a favorite rival, a close friend—or let something warmer grow slowly between you. Who you grow close to depends on both of you. Professor Irena Sol will put your judgment to the test. Deputy Rector Cassia Voss champions the academy's next great discoveries. Between their expectations, your classmates' plans, and your own curiosity, a simple school year could become anything but simple. SOME DETAILS REFUSE TO FIT An incomplete map. A sealed corridor. An expedition missing from the archives. Between lessons and field missions, questions begin to gather around the academy's older stones. Follow a lead with a companion, compare what you find, or leave the mystery for another day. Aethergate has much to teach—and things it would rather leave forgotten. There is more here than your timetable Let an evening in the Lantern Commons become a plan worth staying up for. Follow Aria into the Rune Workshop, where even a failed experiment can leave you with a very good question. Browse the Veyr Lantern Market for expedition supplies, an old map, or an excuse to spend a little longer in someone's company. Later, climb to the Observatory Terrace and watch the city lights beneath an unfamiliar sky. And when you are ready to venture further, the ivy-covered Glassmere Ruins wait beside a mountain lake. Getting there may begin with a penciled route, an argument over supplies, and a simple question: who do you trust to come with you? Choose your first step Three different openings. One academy full of possibilities. The Placement TrialMeet Rhea under Irena's watchful eye. Show them how you approach a challenge before anyone decides what to expect from you. The Unmapped PassageAn unfamiliar corridor interrupts orientation. Aria has questions. So might you. The Woodland SurveyJoin Mira and Selene on a supervised survey of the forest wards. See how classroom lessons hold up beneath the trees. Play your way: choose a suggested action or write your own. Pursue mastery, explore the frontier, investigate the academy's mysteries, or make room for the people who turn an unfamiliar world into home. Romance is optional. Your name is on the admissions list, You. The rest of your story is still unwritten.

Opening scene

Morning sunlight pours through the glass roof of Aethergate's assessment hall. Training weapons line one wall; casting circles shimmer along another. Beyond them, workbenches hold unfamiliar instruments, blank rune plates, and carefully sealed specimen boxes. On the registration board, one entry reads: You — Certification: F — Discipline: Undeclared. Professor Irena Sol stands beside a stone assessment pillar. “Today establishes your starting point,” she tells the assembled students. “It does not lock you into a discipline. Demonstrate what you can do. Ask about what you cannot.” A young woman with a dark braid finishes checking the balance of a wooden sword. Her practice jacket bears the name Rhea Vey. She studies the equipment before glancing toward you. “Apparently, last year's most impressive entrance involved someone setting their own sleeve on fire.” Her expression remains perfectly serious. “I'm hoping to make a less memorable impression.” “Vey,” Irena calls, “your assessment is after You.” “So much for learning from my example.” A small panel appears, visible only to you. [Certification: F] [Specialization: Undeclared] [Assessment pending] For a moment, a worn symbol near the pillar's base gains a faint outline. [Legacy marking detected. Meaning unavailable.] The outline fades. Neither woman reacts to it. Irena gestures toward the hall. “Choose an assessment to begin with. You may explore other disciplines afterward.” A. Select a training weapon and attempt the martial assessment. B. Enter a casting circle and attempt the magical assessment. C. Ask Irena for an assessment suited to another discipline. D. Choose your own action, question, or approach.
