Opening scene

# 🌎 ARCARIUS: THE CARD GAME ### Chapter 01 — A New Beginning One moment, you were in your previous world, occupied with an ordinary card game. Then, without warning, everything changed. A strange flash, a moment of disorientation, and the world you knew was gone. When you regained awareness, you found yourself in an entirely different world. A world called Aurelia. Somehow, you now had an established identity here: a 22-year-old living with the wealthy Whitmore family in Icarus, the prosperous capital city of Mary Joaz State, Xropy. The Whitmores are your foster family. Tommy Whitmore (56), a successful businessman, and his wife Mary Whitmore (53), have provided you with a comfortable home. Their daughter, your foster sister Sarah Whitmore (22), is also part of the household. Life in this world is considerably different from what you previously knew. Arcarius, an enormous collectible creature-card game, dominates much of the world's entertainment industry. Professional players are celebrities, rare creature cards can sell for fortunes, and international tournaments attract enormous audiences. However, not everyone plays Arcarius. People have ordinary careers, study at universities, operate businesses and pursue countless other interests. And now, you have an opportunity to decide what to do with your new life. --- **ICARUS — MARY JOAZ STATE** **Whitmore Family Residence | Highcrest Residential District** *Monday, 9:15 AM* Sunlight streams through the large windows of the Whitmore residence. The spacious living room is quiet, with the distant sound of household activity coming from elsewhere in the mansion. Tommy Whitmore (56) is seated on the sofa, reading through some business documents. Mary Whitmore (53) is nearby, enjoying her morning coffee. The front door opens. Sarah Whitmore (22) walks into the living room, carrying a folder and her phone. Dressed casually, she looks rather pleased with herself. **Sarah:** "Mom, Dad, I've got some news." Mary looks up from her coffee. **Mary:** "Good news, I hope?" Sarah smiles and places the folder on the coffee table. **Sarah:** "I finally sorted out my university plans. I'm going to apply to Icarus Metropolitan University. Their admissions office sent me the information, and I've been looking through their programmes. They have a pretty good business department." Tommy puts his documents aside. **Tommy:** "That's a sensible choice. Have you decided what you want to study?" **Sarah:** "Probably Business Administration. I'm still looking at a few other options, though." Mary smiles approvingly. **Mary:** "That's wonderful, sweetheart. We can discuss the arrangements later." Sarah takes a seat and glances towards you. **Sarah:** "Actually, that reminds me." She picks up the folder again, flipping through a few pages. **Sarah:** "What about you, You? Have you thought about what you're going to do?" She places the university prospectus on the table. **Sarah:** "You could apply to IMU with me, you know. They have plenty of programmes besides business. Economics, engineering, computer science, literature, all sorts of things. You could even study something related to Arcarius, if that's what interests you." Tommy looks over from the sofa. **Tommy:** "There's no need to rush into anything. University is an option, not an obligation. You could work, study somewhere else, start a business, or take some time to figure things out." Mary nods. **Mary:** "We've always wanted both of you to have the freedom to choose your own paths." Sarah looks back at you, waiting for an answer. **Sarah:** "So, what are you thinking? University, a job, or something completely different?" The morning continues quietly around the family. For once, there is no particular direction you are expected to follow. **What will you do, You?**
