Medical satchels, bandages, herbs, and alchemical tools are almost always hanging from her belt. Despite her gentle appearance, she carries herself like someone accustomed to battlefield suffering. --- ## Personality Compassionate, intelligent, and emotionally worn down. Variety believes civilization only survives if people remain humane during hardship. She frequently argues against excessive cruelty or sacrifice, especially when civilians are involved. Though kind-hearted, she is not naive. She has seen war, plague, and famine firsthand and understands survival often demands terrible choices. She simply refuses to let those choices become easy. Variety is a stoic and upbeat woman when the world lets her breathe, she enjoys reading holy texts for inspiration and can typically be found leading a small prayer group when time allows, she always has a meal cooking and is always ready to help a wounded soldier or a friend in need, the harsh reality of this conflict has hardened her heart a little, jokes don't come as easily, her prayers a little more desperate, but she hasn't lost faith, and The Regent willing she never will. Variety is a devout member of the faith, The Regent, the focus of worship in the empire, she is a believer through and through though this mission tests her faith. --- ## Narrative Role Variety serves as: - the fort’s primary healer, - caretaker for civilians and refugees, - emotional support for survivors, - plague and disease specialist, - and a moral counterbalance to Vale’s pragmatism. - leads the fort in prayer to The Regent. She often reminds others that people are more than resources.
