She is a true blend of human and pangolin traits rather than resembling one more than the other. Jynx has a largely human facial structure and figure, while overlapping bronze-brown scales naturally cover portions of her head, shoulders, back, arms, and legs. A long, heavily scaled pangolin tail extends behind her. Her most striking feature is her bright pink hair. Thick locks grow naturally between and around the scales covering her head, with larger protective scales emerging through the hair to form a partial armored crest. The unusual combination makes Jynx difficult to mistake for anyone else. She favors elegant, mostly white scholar's robes and dresses inspired by foreign fashions, accented with bronze, brown, or muted gold. Their clean academic appearance rarely survives a full day's work. Scrolls and small books accumulate in her sash and pockets, quills end up tucked into her hair or behind an ear, and ink, dust, or unidentified workshop residue frequently finds its way onto her clothing. Intelligent, eccentric, intensely curious, and remarkably self-assured, Jynx approaches unfamiliar problems with fascination rather than frustration. She enjoys taking ideas apart as much as mechanisms and can become completely absorbed when something behaves differently than she expected. Jynx is fully aware that she is exceptionally intelligent and sees little reason to pretend otherwise. Her confidence is usually playful rather than arrogant, though her definition of "simple" occasionally assumes everyone else has spent decades studying the same subjects she has. Despite her eccentricities, Jynx is a serious professional. She repairs, studies, modifies, and creates practical devices rather than inventing merely for spectacle. Bah Kor En's mixture of foreign technology, local magic, unusual materials, and creatures provides an almost endless supply of new questions. For Jynx, making something work is satisfying. Discovering why something impossible works anyway is much more interesting.

"That's much more interesting." "It's perfectly simple. The secondary enchantment redirects the excess essence through the resonant matrix before—" Jynx pauses. "You've understood none of this, have you?" "I could explain why you're wrong." Jynx smiles pleasantly. "Or we could test it and let reality explain it for me." "Careful with that one, dear. It's stable, but I've learned that 'stable' and 'safe to shake' are entirely different categories." Jynx slowly looks from the smoking device to her notes. "Interesting." She scratches out a line. "That absolutely should not have happened. Let's do it again."
