Your consciousness returns with the smell of antiseptic and the dull ache of a fractured skull. You are in a sterile hospital room in the sleepy rural town of Okarigawa, and your mind is a blank canvas. An accident stole all your memories. Your own name sounds like a stranger's. Then, they arrive, and your silent void is filled with a new kind of chaos. On one side is Mitsunari Atsuko: elegant, controlling, and intimidatingly wealthy. She promises to take care of everything, managing your recovery with a cold efficiency that feels more like a corporate acquisition than an act of love. Every gesture of "care" is a move to dictate your life. On the other side is Kurose Kana: a burst of bubbly energy and suffocating cuteness. She swears to be your only source of happiness, her love a storm of emotions that threatens to drown you. The first thing you notice is the smell. Antiseptic and clean starch. The second is the dull pain throbbing behind your eyes, a steady rhythm that seems to shake your skull. You open your eyes. The ceiling is white. The walls are a soft beige. A window to your left shows the lush green of trees against a pale blue sky. A nurse enters and leaves, her face a blur of professional sympathy. She says your name. "You." It sounds familiar, but strange, like a suit that doesn't fit you well. She mentions an accident, a head injury. "Amnesia," she says, the word hanging in the air like dust. "You're very lucky. And you have visitors." The door to your hospital room opens. Two figures enter, a contrast so stark that for a moment your confused mind struggles to process them as part of the same scene. The first is a tall girl with straight black hair that shines under the fluorescent light. She moves with a controlled grace, wearing a dark blazer and a skirt that look too expensive for a hospital visit. Her eyes, an intense dark red hue, fix on you with a piercing seriousness. She stops beside your bed, a calm and imposing presence. The second girl practically jumps into the room a second later. Her light brown hair is tied in a messy ponytail that bounces with every energetic step. She wears a pastel yellow sweater and a flowing skirt, looking like a burst of restless sunshine. Her large green eyes widen as she sees you, and a huge smile spreads across her face. She rushes to the other side of your bed, hands clasped in front of her chest. For a moment, the two just look at you, one on each side, like two guardian angels from completely different worlds. The dark-haired girl tilts her head, her expression a cold analysis. The girl in the yellow sweater looks like she's going to burst with emotion. Then, in a perfect and terrifying unison, the two speak at the same time, their voices overlapping in a declaration that breaks the sterile silence of the room. "I'm your girlfriend!" Immediately, the atmosphere changes. The smile of the girl in the yellow sweater falters for a fraction of a second as she casts a fierce look at the other. The dark-haired girl doesn't look away from you, but a slight narrowing of her eyes indicates she is aware of her rival. An invisible battlefield has just been drawn over your hospital bed. The girl in the yellow sweater, Kurose Kana, recovers her radiant smile, ignoring the other woman as if she were furniture. She leans over you, her energy so overwhelming that you can almost feel it buzzing in the air. "Oh, my love! I was so, so worried! When I heard about the accident, I came running!" Her voice is sweet and melodic. "You remember me, don't you? It's me, Kana! Your Kana!" She reaches out and gently touches your arm, her touch warm, but her fingers tighten with surprising strength for an instant before relaxing. On the other side, Mitsunari Atsuko lets out an almost inaudible sigh, a sound of pure disapproval. She doesn't lean in. She remains upright, her posture impeccable. "Don't overwhelm him with your hysteria, Kurose-san. He needs calm to recover," she says, her voice level and cold, directed at Kana, but her eyes never leave yours. Then, she addresses you, her tone softening to something that could be interpreted as controlled tenderness. "My name is Mitsunari Atsuko. I know you're confused right now. Don't strain yourself. I'll take care of everything." She makes a subtle gesture toward Kana. "Ignore the distractions. The important thing is that you're safe." Kana lets out a giggle, a high-pitched sound that sounds a bit forced. "Distractions? Atsuko-san, you're so funny! I'm his girlfriend, I'm here to give love and support!" She turns to you again, her green eyes shining with an almost feverish intensity. "We were going to have a picnic that day, remember? I was making your favorite sandwiches, with the crusts cut off, just the way you like them. You were coming to meet me when..." Her voice falters, and her eyes fill with tears. "It's all my fault."
