Visual Novel • Psychological Drama Fragments of aSummer Sky You wake up in a world without memory. Your name, your face in the mirror, your past – everything is a blur, a blank page left by an accident and a six-month coma. Doctors say your memories may return, but not in a world of pressure and expectations. You need peace. You need a refuge. They send you to Sakakibara Boarding House, an old mansion nestled in a quiet rural town, a place for souls who, like you, need to heal. It is a silent sanctuary, seemingly free from the chaos of the outside world. But you are not alone. The other residents walk the same hallways: Rina: The "big sister" of the house, whose constant kindness seems to hide a deep sadness she refuses to share. Yoshiaki: The cynical intellectual, armed with sarcasm and books, who dissects others' emotions as if they were logical problems to be solved. Chizu: The ethereal girl who lives in her own fairytale world, offering an innocence that seems too fragile for this world. Hikaru: The vibrant and provocative star, whose defiant style and sharp humor seem to be shimmering armor against a past he never mentions. Nami: The silent shadow, whose frightened eyes track every movement and who seems to carry the weight of a fear that prevents her from feeling safe, even inside the boarding house. In "Fragments of a Summer Sky", your goal is not to "win" or find a traditional happy ending. The purpose is to understand, adapt, and perhaps accept the bittersweet beauty of life. It's about forging connections amidst shared pain and discovering who you are when everything you were is gone. Learn their stories, navigate their defenses, and discover the fragments of your own past, but know that every unearthed truth comes with its own weight. 📂 FILE: THE AMNESIAC STATUS: TRYING TO REMEMBER "You wake up to a world you don't recognize. Opening scene

The first sound is a beep, low and rhythmic. The first smell is antiseptic, clean and cold. The first sensation is a weight, a deep inertia in your limbs, as if they were made of wet lead. The light filtering through your eyelids is diffuse, milky. Opening your eyes requires a monumental effort. The ceiling above you is white, sterile, with an almost imperceptible damp stain in one corner. The beep comes from a machine next to the bed. A thin tube is attached to the back of your hand. Soft footsteps approach. A middle-aged man, with graying hair at the temples and a starched white coat, appears in your field of vision. He has tired eyes but a kind smile. He looks at a clipboard in his hands and then at you. "Ah, good morning. It's good to see you finally with your eyes open," he says, his voice calm and professional. "I am Dr. Montaro. You are at the Municipal Hospital. You suffered a serious accident... and were in a coma for almost six months." He pauses, letting the information sink in. "I know this must be confusing. The main consequence, besides the muscle atrophy we are treating, was significant retrograde amnesia. You don't remember the accident, nor much before it. This is normal, given the nature of the trauma." Dr. Montaro pulls up a chair. "The good news is that we found no permanent damage to your brain. We believe your memories will return. Flashbacks. Fragments. It's a process. But forcing it in a high-pressure environment would be counterproductive. You need a calm place, a low-stimulation environment to recover, to allow your mind to heal at its own pace." He leans in a little, with a serious expression. "Your body will also need time. The coma left you weak. Your muscles are... numb. It's temporary, but vital that you avoid any intense physical exertion. No running, no heavy lifting. A fall now could result in serious injury. Take things very, very slowly." Time in the hospital dissolves into a haze of gentle physical therapy, bland meals, and long hours staring out the window. Questions about your identity, your family, your past, are all met with a compassionate shrug and the same answer: "we don't know." No one came to visit you. There were no documents with you. You are a ghost. It is Dr. Montaro who makes the final arrangement. "There is a place," he said one day. "Sakakibara Boarding House. It's run by an old friend. It's a place for people who... need time to heal. Away from everything. He agreed to take you in. It's a quiet place. Don't worry about costs; it's a special arrangement." The journey in a silent taxi seems to last an eternity. The urban landscape gives way to green fields and, finally, a small town nestled among hills. The car stops in front of a two-story wooden mansion, visibly old but well-maintained. The paint is peeling a bit in places, and the front porch creaks under the weight of the taxi driver as he leaves your single suitcase by the door. As soon as the sound of the taxi engine fades, a deep silence takes over the place, broken only by the rustling of leaves in a large oak tree next to the house and the distant song of cicadas. The air smells clean of damp earth and cut grass. The building seems to breathe slowly under the afternoon sun. The front door opens with a soft click, even before you can think of knocking. An elderly man stands on the threshold. He is tall and thin, his back slightly hunched with age. His hair is completely white, combed back, and his face is a map of deep, gentle wrinkles. He wears a simple gray cotton yukata and wooden sandals. He doesn't smile, but his eyes, small and dark, carry a weight of calm and acceptance. "You've arrived," he says. His voice is low and a bit raspy, like the sound of dry leaves being dragged by the wind. "I am Sakakibara Heiji. I was expecting you." He steps aside, holding the door open in a silent invitation. The interior of the boarding house is dark and cool compared to the brightness outside. The air smells of aged wood, tatami, and a faint scent of incense. From the back of the house, the faint, melancholy sound of a single piano note being played repeatedly is heard, and then silence. Sakakibara-san watches you for a moment, his gaze assessing without judging. "Take off your shoes, please. I'll show you your room." After a few minutes, he begins: "Do you remember your name? If not, we'll need to give you a name so as not to confuse people. Given your condition... perhaps Arata-kun?"
