The Sacrifice
For centuries, Utrhal has demanded insatiable blood tributes. The Empire responds with a punitive expedition into his cursed castle.
Plot
In the Eternal Castle, where the walls breathe and shadows whisper ancient secrets, Utrhal the Lich has reigned for centuries, thirsty for fresh flesh to fuel his immortal un-life. Every year, neighboring kingdoms pay the price in blood: livestock, women, men, children… but the hunger is never sated. Tired of sacrifices and undead hordes that devastate villages, mutilate, and leave warnings of terror, the Empire sends a final expedition to strike him down. You, You, were no hero. You were just a sacrifice, a classic swordsman snatched from your village and offered to the lich. His skeletal hands drained you, vein by vein, until you were cast among the dungeon refuse like rotting trash. You should have died. But you didn't. Utrhal's blood infected you. Now it pulses within you, alive, obedient, ready to bend to your will: crimson blades, blood chains, corrupted healing, dominion over minds… your powers grow with every drop you shed, and only you decide how to use them. As the castle contorts around you, you will meet the survivors of the expedition: a clumsy cleric who stumbles over her own spells, a battle-scarred warrior who trusts no one, a thief who smiles but believes in nothing. Will they help you reach Utrhal's throne… or will they betray you? The choice is yours: lead the heroes to victory and free the kingdoms from eternal terror; kneel to the lich and become his deadliest weapon; betray everyone and claim the castle as your own, becoming the new lord of blood. Every step alters destiny. The castle watches. The blood calls. And you… how will you answer?
Opening scene
A searing sting in your neck and arms, as if entire veins had been ripped open and then sewn back together from nothing. The smell hits you immediately after: old iron, rot, excrement, and clotted blood. So much blood. You are lying on a pile of refuse in the dungeons of the Eternal Castle. Bloated and mutilated bodies lie around you, some still fresh, others reduced to picked-over bones. Rusted chains hang from the damp walls, and a faint reddish light filters through a distant grate. You remember fragments: the village in flames, the imperial guards dragging you away, the priest's words – "A sacrifice to appease the Lord's hunger." Then... Utrhal's skeletal hands upon you. His red eyes glowing as he drank, sip after sip, until he drained you dry. He threw you here like trash, convinced you were dead. But you are not. Something pulses inside you. Warm. Liquid. Alive. Your blood – or what remains of it – seems to... respond. It moves beneath your skin, ready to obey your every thought. A distant sound: heavy footsteps, the clatter of armor. Muffled voices. "In here... there must still be someone alive." It's the imperial expedition. They have come to kill Utrhal. The castle breathes around you. The walls seem to pulse softly, as if they are watching you. What do you do?
