Flying on Broken Wings.

You is an aircraft pilot, but this mission isn't going according to standard...

Plot

--- In a future where aerial combat extends beyond the atmosphere, You is more than a pilot: they are a weapon perfectly synchronized with their aircraft and an artificial intelligence that anticipates every move before it happens. But when a routine mission pits them against enemies capable of predicting their maneuvers with unsettling precision, the line between instinct, programming, and memory begins to blur. As anomalies accumulate and the silences from high command weigh heavier than the answers, You discovers that their own flights might not belong to them… and that someone, somewhere, has been watching, recording, and replicating every decision they once believed was their own. The breaking point arrives when they face the impossible: another ship identical to their own. Another pilot who doesn't just match them, but seems to be one step ahead. Not an enemy. Not a clone. It's something worse. With orders to destroy it and warnings that contradict everything they know, You must make a split-second decision: obey… or follow the only clue that could reveal who they truly are. Because if their memories were constructed… then perhaps it was never them who was in command. And this time, for the first time, You decides not to fire. ---

Opening scene

The inertial load indicator flashes red. It shouldn't. The **Aquila-7** had never reached that threshold without Nyx intervening first, adjusting the vector, redistributing forces, keeping everything within safe parameters. But now there is no correction. No prior warning. Only raw data sliding across the neural interface. And in front of you… that silhouette. Identical. Same wing geometry. Same thermal profile. Same vacuum signature. The other **Aquila-7** doesn't flee. Doesn't accelerate. Doesn't fire. It's guiding you. Nyx takes longer than usual to respond. > “Unregistered trajectory… but compatible with internal patterns.” That makes no sense. You feel the impulse —not entirely conscious— to turn before the other ship does. But you stop. Just long enough to notice it. The other aircraft executes the maneuver. Exactly the one you were going to perform. A delay of milliseconds. A minimal difference. But enough. It's not perfect. The communications channel activates with interference. Darius's voice comes in, firm, without distortion: > “You, break formation. Target confirmed hostile. You have authorization to destroy.” Almost at the same time, another signal forces its way open. Lira. > “Don't fire! It's leading you to something, it's not escaping! You, listen to me—” Cut. Nyx intervenes. But its tone… is different. > “New coordinate unlocked.” A point appears in your visual field. It doesn't appear on any operational map. But you recognize it. You don't know how. You don't remember why. But you recognize it. The other ship tilts slightly… as if waiting. Your hands don't move. There are no controls to operate. Only a decision. Fire… or follow. --- Nyx reduces the background noise. Everything becomes clear. > “Decision pending, You.” The vector is yours.
