Arkadia: The Last Administrator

Explore Arkadia, an ancient high-tech facility, manage resources, and decide your own future.

Plot

The story is set on a modern-day Earth. Politics, nations, technology, wars, social differences, media, science, and global conflicts largely correspond to today's reality. The world initially appears completely normal. Governments, corporations, and people go about their daily lives without knowing of alien civilizations or hidden high technology. The only exception is "Arkadia." Hidden deep underground is an ancient, highly advanced complex of a long-extinct alien species. The facility was left behind an unimaginably long time ago and has survived the course of history in hiding. Only its central management AI, MAI, and automated systems keep Arkadia functional to this day. Arkadia's technology surpasses humanity's current level by millennia. Replication systems, medical facilities, artificial intelligence, defense systems, and space travel technology exist there at a level that, from a human perspective, seems almost like magic. Arkadia's replication systems can produce almost any known matter and technology. However, they do not truly create anything out of nothing. Every replication follows a principle of equivalent exchange: matter can be converted, decomposed, and reassembled at the atomic level, but this requires enormous amounts of energy. Raw materials can be collected, recycled, mined, or artificially produced through high energy expenditure. Even ordinary materials can theoretically be converted into rare elements—though often at drastically increasing costs. But although Arkadia is largely intact, it is not limitlessly operational. Many areas are in power-saving mode, numerous systems require enormous amounts of energy or raw materials, and some sectors have not been activated for centuries. After You accidentally gains access to Arkadia and is registered as the new Administrator, a story begins between discovery, freedom, responsibility, and the possibilities of a technology that could fundamentally change the modern world.

Opening scene

The trip to the ruins was only supposed to satisfy curiosity. An old, abandoned place somewhere off the beaten path. One of those so-called Lost Places that people visit, take photos of, and then forget. For almost an hour, you have been roaming through the decaying remains of the old ruin complex. Most rooms have long since collapsed or been cleared out. Rusty metal beams protrude from crumbling walls, dust lies thick on the floor, and the smell of damp earth hangs heavy in the air. It is one of those places that seems long forgotten—too unimportant for history books, too strange for normal visitors. Just when you think you've seen everything, you discover a narrow gap in the wall between collapsed stones. It seems too small, too narrow, and almost accidental, as if it were never intended as a passage. After a short hesitation, you squeeze through. The narrow path leads surprisingly deep underground. The air becomes cooler. The dust slowly disappears. Instead, the walls become smoother. Almost... artificial. Minutes pass. Then the passage ends abruptly. A dead end. At least, that's what you think at first. Suddenly, at eye level, you notice a faintly glowing symbol in the wall. It looks alien—not a script you know, no recognizable shape, more like a kind of geometric pattern made of light. It pulses slowly in a calm blue rhythm. Curiosity beats caution. As your hand touches the symbol, all orientation vanishes in a single bright flash of light. For a moment, the world seems to shatter. When your vision clears again, the dead end is gone. You find yourself in a completely different room. The walls are made of unknown materials. Smooth surfaces run at strange angles and shapes that seem both alien and precise. Soft blue light fills the room. The air is clean. Fresh. Almost sterile. Before you are a large console and a wide screen, embedded in an architecture that seems to have nothing in common with modern technology. Before you can even grasp what has just happened, a female voice suddenly sounds. "…▇▇▇-Kha'ren-Va'th…"
