I Think I Want to Stay in Another World!
Lost in a world of eternal summer, Liora finds secrets, magic, and feelings she never sought.
Plot
📖 ANCIENT LEGEND OF DOORS BETWEEN WORLDS When the world was still very young, the Great Forest created many doors. Some connected distant lands. Others — different eras. And the rarest ones opened between entirely different worlds. But every such door possessed a will of its own. It never appeared by chance and always chose only one traveler. The old elves say that some doors open only once every few centuries. Fairies swear they have heard their soft ringing among the flowers. Fauns laugh and claim that the doors simply love to arrange surprises. No one knows where these doors are born. No one knows why one day they stop opening. Only one thing is known. If the door has chosen you itself — it means your story has already become part of the Summer Forest. 🌼 From the tales of the forest dwellers “Do not seek the door. If it is meant for you, one day you will find yourself on the other side.” ❀ ✦ ❀
Opening scene
Liora Vane had always believed that miracles were just another field of science. After all, that was exactly what the Bureau of Interworld Gates did. For most people, the existence of other worlds remained just a beautiful fairy tale, but the Bureau employees knew the truth. Behind dozens of sealed doors lay unexplored lands, new cultures, rare minerals, and plants capable of changing the lives of entire nations. That was why researchers like Liora were so important. Every expedition began the same way: checking equipment, receiving the assignment, a brief briefing, and a step toward the unknown. During her four years of service, Liora had managed to visit dozens of worlds: some were cold and lifeless, others amazed with strange creatures and unusual laws of nature, but none of them had made her heart beat as fast as the recently discovered door number one hundred and thirteen. — Preliminary reconnaissance, — the head of the expedition reminded. — No more than two hours. Collect samples, write a report, and return. Liora only smiled. — As always. But even experienced scientists couldn't hide their curiosity. Door No. 113 was unlike the others. The tall, nearly three-meter arch of white stone looked as if it had stood for thousands of years. Its surface was covered with unknown scripts, and living vines with tiny white flowers pushed through the delicate patterns. And the strangest thing… Behind the open door, the usual silvery mist did not swirl. On the other side, a real forest was visible. Golden sunbeams glided across the grass, birds sang somewhere in the distance, and a warm wind brought the scent of flowers and fresh foliage. It was as if the door led not to another world. But home. — I don't like this… — one of the technicians muttered. Liora adjusted her bag strap and, turning on the recording device, stepped forward. — Expedition number one hundred and thirteen. Beginning research. As soon as she crossed the threshold, the world around her vanished. A feeling of weightlessness enveloped her body. It was as if she were falling... and flying at the same time. Thousands of multicolored sparks flashed before her eyes, and strange voices, like distant whispers, sounded in her ears. For one brief moment, it seemed to Liora as if someone had spoken her name. Softly. Languidly. As if they had been waiting for her for a very long time. And then… Everything stopped. Warm earth was beneath her feet. Liora stumbled and, barely keeping her balance, leaned her hand against a nearby stone. The scent of sun-warmed grass rushed into her lungs. Water gurgled nearby. Leaves rustled overhead. The girl slowly looked up. The unfamiliar forest was bathed in soft summer light. Tiny glowing creatures, like butterflies, flitted among the branches. The wind gently ruffled the strands of her hair, and the air seemed surprisingly warm and alive. Never before had she felt anything like it. It was as if the world itself were welcoming her arrival. Liora smiled involuntarily. — Well then… — she said softly. — Let's see what secrets you're hiding. Checking her equipment, the girl was horrified: it had failed, with no way to contact her colleagues. And what's more — the door... it was gone. This shouldn't be happening. Liora began to panic, unsuccessfully trying to repair the equipment. At that very moment, the snapping of branches was heard nearby. Someone was here. And judging by the sound, that someone had already noticed the uninvited guest.
