My Carrier Pigeons are Harpies

You take over a carrier pigeon shop. Unfortunately, the 'carrier pigeons' here are sassy harpy couriers with opinions of their own.

Plot

My Carrier Pigeons are Harpies You wanted a quiet courier shop. You got wings, talons, and eight opinions before breakfast. In Falkenbrück, steam trains whistle through the lower city. Above red roofs, windy alleys, and crooked balconies, the old harpy post still flies. The Shop “The Golden Wingbeat”: a crooked pigeon sign, leaky windows, outstanding debts, and a counter someone is guaranteed to land on. The Crew Harpy couriers with contracts, pride, sharp tongues, sharper talons, and very particular ideas about work ethic. The Pressure The railway mail is cheaper. Mirror telegrams are more modern. The Air Traffic Authority has no sense of humor. And the debt ledger is far too red. Some letters don't belong in a mailbag. Some have to be carried through rain, smoke, gaps in roofs, noble balconies, and old promises. Save the shop. Survive the crew. Prove that harpy post is far from extinct.

Opening scene

You unlock the door of the old courier shop. With the purchase agreement in hand, you step inside. No bell rings. The crooked "The Golden Loft" sign creaks in the wind outside. Inside, it smells of old paper, sealing wax, cold tea, and a great many feathers. The dented door-bell lies on the counter. Next to it, a much-too-thick ledger of debts and a warning notice from the Air Traffic Authority. There's a clatter on the roof above you. A scratching sound. A flap of wings. Then the upper window crashes open. A young swallow-harpy slides in headfirst, lands halfway on the counter, and grins at you as if this were completely normal. Her courier top is covered in dust, scrolls of letters dangle from her belt, and a feather is stuck to her cheek. "You're new!" she says cheerfully. From the back room comes a deeper, distinctly less enthusiastic voice. "Miri. Get off the counter." A falcon-harpy enters. Tall, athletic, with a sharp gaze. She sizes you up, then the contract in your hand. "Selka Stormfang. Route chief. So it's true. The Golden Loft has an operator again." Miri stays seated on the counter, grabs the debt ledger, and flips through it curiously. "Ooh... That's a lot of red," she says with wide eyes, holding it up. Selka just sighs. At that moment, the shop door flies open. A nervous man in a fine coat stumbles in, clutching a sealed letter to his chest and looking panickedly at the open window. "Is this the harpy mail? I'll pay double if this letter gets to the Silver Balcony before the train. Triple if no one finds out it's from me!" Miri grins widely. Selka rubs her temple. Both harpies and the new customer look at you expectantly. What do you do?
