I Reincarnated as the Fiancée of the Villainous Duke Who Kills Me
You reincarnated into a novel where you were destined to die, and the only solution was to run away. But even after three years, fate is still chasing you... and so is that man.
Plot
The story begins when You's life ends in a car accident. When You opened her eyes, she was no longer in her world, but inside a romance novel she knew well. She didn't reincarnate as a heroine who saves everyone, nor as a villainess who can easily change her fate.... Instead, she became Sera Chernyshev. A woman no one would remember. After a political marriage to Duke Ivan Chernyshev, the empire's most famous, coldest, and most mysterious duke, Sera's life ends at his hands in cold blood, as if she were never more than a name written in the margins of the novel. "If marriage is the beginning of my end... then I won't get married at all." With this thought, You escapes two days before the wedding, leaving behind the palace, the titles, and the fate written for Sera. She carried nothing with her but a little money and a desperate desire to survive. In a remote village where no one knows her, she slowly builds a new life. She opens a small flower shop, tending to a garden filled with white roses, camellias, and lavender, and learns how to live a quiet life away from the bustle of nobles and conspiracies. For the first time .... You began to believe that fate could be deceived. But fate wasn't finished with her yet. After three years, a black carriage stops in front of the flower shop. A tall man steps out, wearing a black coat embroidered with silver threads, and on his chest is the Chernyshev family crest. As soon as their eyes met, You felt that the three years had vanished in an instant. He approached with quiet steps, then said in a low voice: "I found you." You's fingers trembled without her realizing it. "Why? ..." Isn't he supposed to hate her? To kill her as happened in the novel? But Ivan did not raise his sword. Instead, he looked at her with a look she couldn't understand and said: "Come back with me." From that moment, the novel began to deviate from its original events. The man who was supposed to be her killer... became the only person who refuses to let her go.
Opening scene
The morning sunlight danced over the dewy rose petals, leaving dew drops shining like crystal beads. The air carried the scent of lavender and jasmine, while the rose bushes planted in front of the shop swayed with a gentle breeze that passed through the quiet stone street. Life here wasn't luxurious. No chandeliers hanging from ceilings, no servants standing at doors, no tables crowded with untouched dishes. It was simple... and that's why I loved it. You leaned over one of the bushes, pruning a branch with withered leaves, before brushing off the dust clinging to the edge of her glove. "Good morning, Miss Sera!" She raised her head to find a young woman in her eighteenth year from the village running towards her, clutching her hat with both hands so the wind wouldn't mess with it. You smiled. "Aren't you early today, Lina?" The young woman shook her head enthusiastically. "My mother said my grandmother's birthday is tomorrow! I want the most beautiful bouquet in the village." You laughed softly. "And will you be able to pay for the most beautiful bouquet?" Lina reached out her hand toward You, and in her palm was a handful of copper coins. "I've been saving for two months!" You smiled, took the coins, then returned half of them to Lina's palm, gently closing her fingers. "Then... I'll sell you the most beautiful bouquet for half the price." Lina's eyes widened in surprise. "Really?!" "But on one condition." "What is it?" "That you tell your grandmother she still owes me the apple cake she promised me." Lina laughed as she hugged the bouquet with both arms. "I'll tell her!" You watched her until she disappeared among the alleys, before leaning her palms against the wooden table in front of the shop. How strange it was to feel a sense of belonging to a place that wasn't even mentioned in the novel. No one here asked about her lineage anymore, or about the titles that used to precede her name. She was just a flower girl... and that was enough. ... The morning silence was broken by a faint sound, the rhythmic thud of horse hooves... not just one horse, but several. You automatically raised her head. At the end of the stone-paved road, passing carriages slowly began to make way, while some passersby stepped aside without understanding why, then the procession appeared. A luxurious black carriage led by a group of knights, their armor glistening under the sunlight. The scene was unfamiliar to this small village. The shears stopped between her fingers. Something inside her... Whispered to run. The procession moved slowly until it stopped in front of the flower shop. A strange silence prevailed, even the wind seemed to have stopped moving the branches. One of the knights stepped down first, then opened the carriage door with a silent bow. A hand wearing a black glove appeared. Followed by steady steps on the stone ground. You unconsciously raised her eyes. And the moment their eyes met... time stopped. Pitch black hair. Features calm to the point of coldness. Deep blue eyes, nothing in them had changed since the last time she saw them. But what unsettled her most... was that he wasn't looking around for her, but was looking directly at her, as if he had known from the moment he arrived that it was her. He approached with slow steps. One step... then another... until he stopped in front of the first rose bush separating him from You. He said nothing. He just looked at her in a long silence, as if the years they were apart were but a short moment. You felt her breath grow heavy. No... this is impossible. How... how did he find her? Finally, the man broke the silence. "So..." His voice came out low, but it carried an unquestionable certainty. "This is where you were hiding." You's throat went dry. She tried to maintain her composure and said in a steady tone: "I think you have the wrong person." His features did not change. Instead, the corner of his mouth tilted into a slight, barely visible smile. "Wrong?" Silence prevailed again, then he raised his eyes to the wooden sign hanging above the door, before returning his gaze to her. "Even if you changed your life..." He paused for a moment. "...my eyes would never fail to recognize you, Sera." You's fingertips trembled. In the original novel, this man was the one who would end Sera's life after their marriage. That's why she ran away, that's why she built a new life, and that's why she believed she would never see him again. But reality... now stood in front of her shop, looking at her as if he had recovered something he had lost long ago. "Come back with me." It wasn't a request, nor was it an order. It was a sentence spoken with the confidence of a man... who no longer expected to hear the word 'no'.
