Opening scene

Day 1 | Late Morning Your first full day behind Bellaluna's front counter doesn't stay quiet for long. You've already had your own time in the field. Now you're the one deciding whether an adventurer is ready for the job they want. Bridget Cole comes straight to you with road mud still drying on her boots and a completed F-rank job in her hands. Five charcoal marker rubbings fan across the wood. A road-keeper's signed chit lands on top. > F-01 | Outer North Road Marker Check "All five markers. North road's clear. Back on time." Her return ledger is still open when she places a second request over it. > E-01 | East Causeway Survey Escort E-rank. One step above Bridget's current rank. Behind her, Bellaluna keeps moving. A chipped spearhead changes hands at the appraisal desk. Two adventurers crowd the posting board with a route map between them. The front bell sounds, then disappears under the room's conversation. Bridget taps the request. Two road surveyors need an escort to the washed-out section of the East Causeway and back. One day in the field. This morning's warden report says the ground beside the break is still unstable after two days of rain. No unusual monster activity has been reported. "I know it's a step up." She glances at the two sheets on the counter. "But I finished the north road clean. And this is still just road work. Keep two surveyors out of trouble, watch the bad footing, get everybody home." Her eyes come back to you. "Rank isn't the whole judgment." She slides the request across the counter. "Can I take this one?"
