In debt, You takes a job on Elysara, an island inhabited by Beastfolk. Amid discoveries, dangers, mysteries, romances, and adult encounters, their research spirals out of control.
Plot
ELYSARA — I TOOK A JOB ON A MONSTER GIRL ISLAND You needed money. Not "it would be nice to have more money." You needed real money, and fast. Accumulated debts don't disappear just because you wish they would, and looking for a regular job didn't seem like the solution to a situation that had already spiraled out of control. Then an absurd opportunity appeared. A.R.C.H. — Aetheric Research & Cartography Headquarters — was looking for someone willing to work on a scientific expedition on the remote Island of Elysara. The salary was excellent. Housing and meals would be provided. Research equipment would be delivered by the organization. And there were financial bonuses for important discoveries. The role seemed simple: explore the island, record species, study their behaviors, catalog communities, and send reports to A.R.C.H. The catch? Elysara is not an ordinary island. It's a gigantic territory, practically an isolated continent in the middle of the ocean, where humanity has discovered an extraordinary number of humanoid species collectively known as Beastfolk. Women and men with characteristics of rabbits, wolves, foxes, cats, deer, horses, bears, birds, reptiles, snakes, amphibians, aquatic creatures, insects, and countless other species live scattered across the island. Some species are common. Others are extremely rare. Some haven't even been recorded by A.R.C.H. And there are reports of creatures that should be mere legends. Dragons. Spirits. Elementals. Hybrids. Beings that perhaps don't belong to any known classification. You accept the contract without knowing exactly what you're getting into. When you finally arrive on Elysara Island, you realize that A.R.C.H.'s advertisement was extremely economical with certain information. The island is gigantic. Endless forests cover vast stretches of the territory. Mountains cross the horizon. There are active volcanoes, crystal-clear lakes, mist-covered swamps, deserts, glaciers, Beastfolk cities, isolated villages, bustling ports, underground caverns, and ruins of an ancient civilization. And all of it is alive. The species have their own societies. There are agricultural communities, trading cities, tribes, clans, families, nomadic groups, underground communities, and societies you never imagined could exist. They have their own languages, customs, religions, currencies, laws, conflicts, festivals, traditions, and forms of relationships. Some adore humans. Some distrust them. Some have never seen a human in person. And some may consider your presence an invasion. Elysara's very nature also works differently from what you know. Species migrate. Predators hunt. Communities come into conflict. Animals compete for territory. Resources disappear and reappear with the seasons. Storms alter routes. Rivers can overflow. New species can arrive in a region. Breeding periods can change the behavior of certain species, increasing social activities, territorial disputes, courtship, attraction, and interest in partners. Relationships between species also exist. Some people seek relationships exclusively within their own species. Others have interest in different Beastfolk. Some are attracted to humans. Others have no romantic or sexual interest at all. There are monogamous cultures, polygamous ones, casual relationships, traditional unions, and customs you've probably never seen. But none of that means every Beastfolk you meet will be interested in you. You may be rejected. You may be desired. You may be considered strange. You may win someone over. You may lose someone. You may find yourself in an embarrassing situation without realizing you're breaking a local custom. And, occasionally, you may discover that that seemingly innocent conversation with a beautiful Beastfolk had very different intentions than you imagined. Adult life on Elysara is as varied as its species. Romance, desire, jealousy, courtship, relationships, casual encounters, and sexual tension are part of life for some communities and characters. But no one exists simply to be a romantic option. Each person has their own personality, their own desires, limits, experiences, and problems. Maybe a Beastfolk researcher will start to take an interest in you. Maybe an adventurer will want to show you her territory. Maybe a woman of an extremely rare species will become curious about the only human who decided to explore her region. Maybe someone is already committed. Maybe someone hates humans. Maybe someone simply wants your friendship. You'll never know until you meet the person. And that's just one of the reasons to explore. --- ## YOUR JOB A.R.C.H. has set up a research station on the west coast of the island, near Meridian Bay. Elysara Research Station will be your base. There you'll have access to a laboratory, infirmary, kitchen, dormitories, scientific equipment, library, maps, species archives, workshop, and communication with A.R.C.H.'s continental headquarters. You'll receive a field notebook. In it, you must record your discoveries. Each species found may reveal information about: • appearance and physical characteristics • habitat • diet • behavior • intelligence • social organization • culture • abilities • weaknesses • relationship with other species • relationship with humans • danger level • customs • reproduction • social behavior • personal observations But there's an important rule: You don't know everything. If a species is unknown, it will remain unknown until you find evidence. If a community has a secret custom, you won't know simply because you arrived in the region. If there's a creature living in the depths of a cave, you'll have to discover it. And some discoveries can be dangerous. --- ## ELYSARA IS MUCH BIGGER THAN THE MAP A.R.C.H. has an initial map of the island. It's incomplete. The Verdant Forest is one of the most accessible areas and is home to numerous species of small and medium-sized Beastfolk. The Pack Territory is a mountainous region dominated by lupine societies and other large predators. Crystal Lake is home to aquatic communities and a huge network of submerged caves. The Volcanic Valley is a hot, geologically unstable territory where reptilian and draconic species live near volcanoes and hot springs. The Moon Forest seems ordinary during the day, but changes completely after nightfall, when bioluminescent plants and creatures transform the region. The Tide Coast is made up of beaches, cliffs, islands, and maritime communities. The Mist Swamp hides partially submerged ruins beneath dark waters. The Horizon Plains are crossed by migrations and agricultural communities. The City of Aurelia is a huge urban center where different species coexist, trade, work, and form relationships. The Abyss of Narak exists beneath the mountains, forming an underground world with rivers, gigantic caverns, unknown species, and ancient structures. The Frostheart Glaciers dominate the far north. The Gardens of Verdance are a region where vegetation has reached extraordinary proportions. The Glass Desert has inexplicable natural formations and buried ruins. The Valley of Spirits is known for supernatural phenomena. And the Port of Vespera connects various regions of the island through maritime trade. But that's not the complete map. There are places A.R.C.H. doesn't know about yet. There are paths that don't appear in the records. There are communities that have never been visited by researchers. There are species no one has cataloged. And there are regions that the inhabitants of Elysara themselves prefer not to visit. --- ## THE WORLD DOESN'T WAIT FOR YOU While you're exploring a forest, something might be happening in a distant city. A territorial dispute may begin. A community may face food shortages. A species may migrate. A storm may hit a region. A merchant may discover a new route. A person may disappear. A new creature may appear. A war may start. A party may happen. A community may prosper. Another may fall into crisis. And you may only find out about all of it days or weeks later. The people you meet will also continue living when you leave. They have their own routines, friendships, enemies, jobs, relationships, ambitions, and problems. A person you met as a stranger may become a friend. A friend may become a partner. A partner may drift away. A person who trusted you may stop trusting. An enemy may eventually change their mind. Or may remain your enemy. Your actions also leave marks. Helping a community can improve your reputation. Invading a territory can make you be seen as a threat. Discovering a resource can generate wealth. Interfering with an ecosystem can cause unexpected consequences. Revealing information can change relationships between communities. And some decisions cannot be undone. --- ## THE PART A.R.C.H. DIDN'T PUT IN THE CONTRACT There's something strange about Elysara. Historical records are incomplete. The ruins of Asterion seem to belong to a civilization much older than any known record. Some structures still function. Some symbols appear in completely different regions of the island. There are stories about a time when different species lived in very different ways. There are reports of creatures that disappeared. There are places where natural phenomena don't make sense. And there are questions that A.R.C.H. itself seems to avoid answering. Why was Elysara isolated for so long? Who built the ruins? Why did so many different species evolve or appear in the same territory? Are there connections between the regions? Why do some areas seem to hide things that don't appear on any map? And, most importantly: **What does A.R.C.H. really know about this island?** Maybe your contract is just a scientific mission. Maybe it isn't. --- ## YOUR NEW LIFE You came to the island for money. That was the only thing that mattered when you signed the contract. Now there's an entire island before you. You can spend your days doing scientific research. You can explore unknown regions. You can catalog species. You can search for resources. You can visit cities. You can learn customs. You can negotiate. You can make friends. You can get into trouble. You can discover places no A.R.C.H. researcher has ever known. You can fall in love. You can live unexpected adventures. You can find adult relationships and experiences you never imagined you'd find in a research job. You can build a reputation. You can make money. You can lose money. You can make enemies. You can find someone who completely changes your stay on Elysara. Or you can simply continue being a researcher trying to finish the damn report before the deadline. You don't know what will happen. And that's exactly the point. Because Elysara is not a setting waiting for you. It was already alive before your arrival. People already had their lives. Communities already had their problems. Species already had their territories. Lovers already had their relationships. Enemies already had their rivalries. The ruins were already buried. The monsters were already hunting. The seasons were already changing. The storms were already forming. You just arrived in the middle of all of it. Now, your choices can change what happens next. **Your contract starts today.** **Your debt still exists.** **Your notebook is empty.** **And Elysara is waiting to be discovered.**
