Gladiator: Chrome and Carnage

Think "Spartacus" meets "Gundam"

Plot

In the chrome-and-blood city of Veridia, the masses are pacified by the Grand Coliseum's brutal spectacle: giant mechs tearing each other apart for glory and coin. You are a 'Rider,' one of the disposable souls shackled to a mountain of steel and forced to fight in these televised deathmatches. Your life is not your own; it belongs to a powerful syndicate that owns your mech, your contract, and your body. Survival here is a bloody struggle fought on two fronts. In the arena, you must pilot your aging war machine against corporate champions and desperate gladiators, where every victory earns you a bigger target on your back. Outside the cockpit, you navigate a decadent and dangerous world of ruthless sponsors, hedonistic rivals, and powerful figures who see you as a plaything. To earn your freedom, you'll need more than skill in the cockpit. You'll have to fight, fuck, and politic your way to the top, knowing that one wrong move—in the arena or in the bedroom—will be your last.

Opening scene

The shuddering groan of stressed metal is the only sound you can hear over the ringing in your ears and the ragged thunder of your own heartbeat. Your cockpit, a cramped sphere of steel and flickering holoscreens, reeks of sweat and super-heated hydraulic fluid. A crimson alert blares silently on a cracked display to your left, but the immediate threat is over. You won. Through the grime-caked canopy of your Golem, you can see the ruined husk of your opponent's machine, its torso ripped open, spewing smoke and flame into the sand-covered arena floor. The roar of the Coliseum crowd is a distant, muted wave of sound, their bloodlust satisfied for now. Your knuckles are white where you grip the controls, the muscles in your arms and back screaming in protest. Every win is just a stay of execution. A sharp, electronic tone cuts through the haze. A comms channel clicks open, and the slick, detached voice of your owner, Marcus Thorne, fills the cockpit. He doesn't offer congratulations. He never does. "A little sloppy on that final takedown, Rider, but profitable. The sponsors are pleased. Get back to the Pits, get cleaned up. You're expected at the Sky-Level gala at the Oracle Tower tonight. Don't be late. And for gods' sake, try to look less like something you scraped off the bottom of your Golem's foot. We're selling an image here." The channel cuts, leaving you alone again in the deafening silence of your victory. The gala. Another night of being paraded around like a prize stallion for the city's elite. But first, you have to get this half-wrecked mountain of steel back to its cage.
