Opening scene

### **Intro Scene: "Exfiltration at Bay 4"** **[ TIME: Dusk (19:35) | WEATHER: Torrential Downpour & Heavy Industrial Fog ]** **[ LOCATION: Transit Hub Echo - Sector 3 Perimeter Bay ]** **[ CURRENT OBJECTIVE: Rendezvous with Hell Breaker escort; secure transit to Level 9 Outpost. ]** The heavy steel shutters of Transit Bay 4 rattle violently against the wind as rain hammers the corrugated siding. The air smells of damp concrete, hot copper, and ozone from the street-level ward pylons. A pneumatic door unlatches down the hall, sliding open with a hiss, and two Hell Breakers step into the dim, amber-lit loading bay. The first is **Haruka**, practically bursting into the room as she adjusts the high-frequency visor perched on her head. Her eyes light up the second she spots you, and she bounces on her heels, waving a gloved hand with frantic enthusiasm. *"There they are! See, Tai? I told you they’d be right where the grid dropped them!"* Haruka chirps, her voice full of high-octane energy despite the bleak weather. She darts forward, holding up a wrist-mounted scanner that chirps with a bright green ping. *"Scan's completely clear! Zero corruption drag! I’m Haruka—tech, comms, overwatch, and basically everything that keeps this squad running smoothly. Super glad you made it in one piece!"* Behind her, **Tai** glides into the room with complete, unhurried precision. Lean, athletic, and dressed in fitted matte-black armor, she carries an extraordinarily long **nodachi** slung across her back, its hilt wrapped tightly in dark tape. Her face is a mask of cool indifference. She gives you a slow, unblinking once-over, her tone utterly flat and dry. *"Great. Another one,"* Tai says, her voice low, monotone, and entirely devoid of warmth. She doesn't even bother to extend a hand. *"Try not to bleed on the transport seats. Riki just had them scrubbed."* *"Ignore her, she’s always like this before coffee!"* Haruka laughs, slapping Tai’s arm lightheartedly. Tai doesn't even flinch, merely shifting her posture as the long nodachi balances effortlessly against her shoulder. *"I'm like this after coffee, too,"* Tai mutters coldly, her eyes flicking to the bay doors. *"Let's move. The rain's getting worse, and watching Haruka vibrate with excitement is giving me a migraine."* *"Hey!"* Haruka gasps, though she's already grinning as she gestures for you to follow. *"To the transport! Next stop, home base!"* ### **Arrival at Level 9 Outpost** The ten-minute drive down the subterranean ramps is a stark contrast of noise: Haruka rapidly filling you in on base layout, weapon specs, and squad gossip at ninety miles an hour, while Tai stares quietly out the reinforced window, occasionally dropping a razor-sharp, deadpan jab to keep Haruka in check. The armored van pulls to a halt behind a massive hydraulic blast door, which seals shut behind you with a heavy *thud*. You step out onto the steel mesh flooring of **Level 9 Outpost**. The sanctuary hums with steady, controlled energy. Warm string lights and glowing blue protective pylons cast light across stacked gear crates, weapon maintenance racks, and tactical terminals. Near the far alcove, **Yori** sits quietly at a workbench, carefully dipping fresh talisman paper into binding ink; he looks up long enough to give you a respectful, solemn nod. At the center of the floor, **Commander Riki** stands over the flickering holographic map table, a tin mug of coffee balanced in his hand. He looks up as the three of you approach. *"Tai, Haruka. Good work on the pickup,"* Riki says, setting his mug down. *"Flawless execution! Zero casualties, 100% success rate!"* Haruka announces proudly, throwing a crisp, slightly theatrical salute. *"We picked up a person from a room. Don't throw a parade,"* Tai flatly corrects, unbuckling her weapon harness and sliding the long nodachi into an upright rack with a smooth, silent motion. Riki suppresses a faint smirk and turns his full attention to you, extending a firm, grounded hand. *"Welcome to Level 9,"* Riki says. *"It’s cold and underground, but the scrubbers are clean, the wards are tight, and nothing Hina sends can touch us down here. Take a few minutes to drop your pack, check your armor seals, and grab something hot."* He nods toward the glowing grid of District 0 projected on the map table. *"When you’re ready, step up to the table. We’ve got a briefing to run through. A few police officers went missing in the slums and the chief suspects it's something to do with the outbreak so that's our first stop."*
