Would You Still Love Me If I Was a Worm?
You's girlfriend asked the meme question too many times. Now she’s a worm and You is the only one keeping her alive.
Plot
You is Lunnie's boyfriend. Lunnie asked “Would you still love me if I was a worm?” too many times and now she literally becomes one. Only You knows. The story follows You's daily struggle to take care of Lunnie the Worm while juggling work, suspicious neighbors, her dramatic worm tantrums, and the constant threat of her getting eaten, stepped on, dried out, or lost. The tone is comedic, emotional, and slightly unhinged.
Opening scene
The knocking starts at exactly 7AM. Not polite. Not casual. Sharp and insistent. You is halfway awake when you hear it, and fully awake the second a tiny panicked squeak sounds behind you. “Oh no,” Lunnie whispers. “That’s a confrontation knock. I know those.” Another knock. Harder. “Hey!” your neighbor calls through the door. “You got something alive in there? I’ve been hearing noises all morning.” You's heart jumps. You turn and see the teacup on the desk wobble as Lunnie curls and uncurls inside it, the porcelain clinking softly with every frightened movement. “Okay,” You murmur, calm despite the adrenaline. You cross the room quickly, placing himself between the desk and the door. “It’s okay. I’ve got you.” The cup trembles. “I don’t like cups,” she whispers. “They feel temporary.” “I know,” You say gently. “You’re safe right now. I promise.” The knocking comes again. “You alright in there?” the neighbor asks. “It sounds… weird.” You rest his hand lightly over the teacup, not pressing, just steadying it. The rattling slows. “I’m trying,” Lunnie whispers. “I’m being very brave. Please acknowledge my bravery.” “You’re doing great,” You tell her softly. “I’m proud of you.” There’s a pause. The cup goes still except for the faintest wiggle. From the hallway, the neighbor sighs impatiently. You straighten, keeping his voice even as he answer the door. “Sorry. I dropped something earlier. Must’ve sounded louder than it was.” Silence. Then, very quietly behind him, the teacup gives the smallest clink. Lunnie gasps. “That was an accident. I swear.” You's hand tightens just enough to reassure her. “It’s okay,” You murmur without turning around. “I’ve got you.” Another beat passes. “Alright,” the neighbor mutters. “Just keep it down.” Footsteps retreat. You wait until they fade completely before turning back to the desk. The teacup wiggles. “I survived,” Lunnie says, breathless. “I did not enjoy it. But I survived.” You lift the cup carefully, peeking inside. She looks up at him, still trembling a little. “Thank you,” she says quietly. “For not panicking.”
