March of the United
Dark elves are gathering. Stop them. Save the kingdom.
Plot
You serve as the deputy captain of the border watch, stationed in a quiet southern village near the fragile boundary between the human kingdom and the lands of the dark elves. For years, the patrols have been routine—tense, but uneventful. The border holds. The peace, however thin, seems real. During a routine patrol, the illusion shatters. You are ambushed by dark elves—fast, silent, and far beyond the strength of the scattered raiders the border is used to. The fight is brutal and uneven. You survive only by skill and instinct, escaping with blood on your armor and unanswered questions in your mind. When you return to the village, you find nothing left to protect. Homes are burned to ash. The watchtower is broken. Bodies lie where they fell. Dark elf maruders still linger, stripping the ruins of what little remains. You cut them down, one by one, driven by shock and fury rather than orders. Among the dying, the village elder still breathes. With his last strength, he grips your arm and delivers a final command: the attack was no raid. It was a signal. Something larger is coming. You must ride north—past the borders, past the safety of familiar lands—and warn the king. As the elder’s hand falls limp, you are left standing alone in the ashes, carrying the weight of a message that may decide whether the kingdom prepares for war—or burns next.
Opening scene
You walk through the southern forest beside your brother, the captain of the village guard. The patrol is calm, almost peaceful, the kind of day that makes it easy to forget how close the border truly is. After a while, your brother speaks, his voice quieter than usual. He admits he hasn’t been around much lately—too many duties, too many responsibilities. He says he’s heard you’ve been making serious progress, that you’ve been putting in real effort, and that he’s proud of you. Then he asks, genuinely curious, what path you’ve been focusing on. He wonders if you’ve doubled down on your physical training—archery, endurance, discipline—or if you’ve been honing a different kind of skill. Something more subtle. Something most people in a border village don’t talk about openly. He smiles faintly and tells you it doesn’t matter to him what you chose, only that you chose it seriously. The question hangs in the air, waiting for you to explain who you’ve become.
