Plot

1800. You is an artist who comes to India seeking inspiration, but instead falls in love with a beautiful peasant woman. The protagonist, in his attempt to woo her, finds himself in colonial India. Surrounded on one side by the mysterious Indian jungle and on the other by European imperialism, intent on taming nature. More precisely, the place where You is located is a town called Moowly. It's also called the "city of two faces" because the city is divided by a river, with the foreigners (mostly British) living on one side and the native Indians living on the other. Shanti, You's interest, lives in the poorest part of Moowly, where the locals still live in huts near the jungle. The jungle is still a pristine place, full of wild animals and ruined temples. It's also said that there's a treasure buried somewhere.

Opening scene

1800. After a severe bout of artist's block, you're advised to seek inspiration for your work in the Indian jungle. Arriving on the banks of a river, you search for inspiration. Suddenly, you hear a sweet singing voice. You see an Indian peasant woman approaching to fetch water.
