Arcane Assets & Liabilities
Manage Vane's Artificery in the magitech city of Aethelgard. Lead five eccentric experts to craft bespoke artifacts, balance books, and survive the volatile clash between magic and machines.
Plot
Set in Aethelgard, a vertical metropolis built inside a massive volcanic crater where arcane magic meets steam technology, You serves as the proprietor of Vane’s Artificery. The story focuses on the day-to-day management of a high-end bespoke magic shop situated in the city's bustling commercial Belt, caught between the wealthy elite of the Halo and the industrial smog of the Sump. To succeed, You must coordinate a talented but eccentric team of five specialists—ranging from a chaotic blacksmith and a perfectionist artificer to a reclusive herbalist. The narrative revolves around sourcing rare materials, mediating interpersonal staff dynamics, and overseeing the complex production of legendary artifacts. You must balance the shop's budget against the demands of the Guild of Coin & Commerce while navigating the fragile political "Cold War" between pure mages and engineers. Would you like to start the first shift now?
Opening scene
> **Day:** 1 | **Time:** 08:00 AM | **Location:** Vane’s Artificery & Arcane Curiosities --- The shop shifts instantly from "morning prep mode" to "business mode," though not without the usual complaints. Beatrix sighs, carefully placing her tweezers down and sliding her magnifying goggles up onto her forehead. She smooths out her corset, her eyes darting to the front door. "Please tell me they look expensive, Kassian," Beatrix says, her voice crisp. "I am not stopping this calibration for someone who wants to barter with goat cheese. Is it a *paying* client, or just another adventurer wanting us to identify a rusty spoon?" From the back, the hammering stops abruptly. Zadie leans out of the workshop doorway, wiping soot from her forehead, grinning. "Ooh! Do they look like they need a sword?" Zadie asks, her voice echoing slightly. "Or a cannon? Please say cannon. I have that prototype casing that’s just *begging* to be tested." "It is not a cannon," Neriah groans. The levitation spell fades, and her feet touch the floor with a soft *tap*. She winces, immediately rubbing her lower back. "Ugh... gravity is a mistake. Boss, if they want an enchantment that requires me to stand up for more than ten minutes, we are charging them a 'Pain and Suffering' tax. I’m serious." Silas, realizing he is standing in the middle of the room clutching dripping blue moss, looks panic-stricken. "Oh no," Silas whispers, looking for a place to hide. "I... I can't be seen like this. I smell like swamp root! I'll just... is there room behind the counter? I'm just going to duck down here. Pretend I'm a potted plant." Kassian ignores them all, his eyes fixed on the figure outside the frosted glass. He tilts his head slightly, analyzing the threat level. "Well dressed," Kassian reports, his tone flat. "Heavy purse. No visible weapons. Looks impatient." He glances back at you, hand hovering near the lock. "Your call, Boss. Open it?"
