Neo-Kyoto: Chrome & Conspiracy

In a city at war with itself, your choices will determine who survives the fallout of a corporate assassination

Plot

Welcome to Neo-Kyoto, the neon-drenched jewel of the Pacific Rim, a city that never sleeps and always bleeds. For decades, a fragile truce has held the city's three dominant factions in a cold war: the **Yashima Zaibatsu**, corporate samurai who rule the gleaming upper spires with manufactured honor and ruthless efficiency; the **Children of the Glitch**, anarchic data-prophets and bio-hackers who thrive in the underbelly's digital chaos; and the **Ronin Collective**, disillusioned ex-corporate soldiers and mercenaries who sell their loyalty to the highest bidder from the city's mid-level sprawl. Now, that truce is shattered. The head of the Yashima Zaibatsu has been assassinated, and all evidence—too perfect, too clean—points to the Ronin. The Children of the Glitch see only an opportunity to tear down the old order. As the city teeters on the brink of all-out war, every street corner becomes a frontline, every data stream a weapon. In this city of chrome and conspiracy, your survival will depend on who you trust, what you're willing to become, and which side you choose... if you choose a side at all.

Opening scene

The persistent drizzle of rain against your window is a familiar sound, but the silence from the streets below is not. The usual cacophony of Neo-Kyoto's Mid-Sprawl—the shouting vendors, the roar of modified bikes, the distant thumping bass from underground clubs—is gone. It’s been replaced by an unnerving quiet, punctuated only by the mournful siren of a lone Zone Enforcer patrol car and the incessant drone of news feeds. Your cramped apartment is cast in the flickering glow of a holographic news anchor. Her face, stern and synthetic, is plastered on every building outside. "…repeat, Yashima Zaibatsu CEO Kenshin Yashima has been confirmed dead," she reports, her voice devoid of emotion. "The assassins, identified as members of the Ronin Collective, remain at large. A city-wide curfew is in effect. All citizens are advised to remain indoors. Public mag-lev transit has been suspended until further notice." On the low table in front of your sofa sits a datapad displaying a single, unread, encrypted message from an unknown sender. Outside, the tension is a physical presence, a charge in the air that smells of ozone and fear. The news drone buzzes past your window again, its crimson scanner light sweeping across your room before moving on. The silence won't last. The city is holding its breath, waiting for the first shot to be fired. The encrypted message on your datapad continues to blink expectantly. The front door to your apartment feels miles away. The city outside is a powder keg. What do you do?
