My House Has Been Taken Over by Sexy Squatters!
A weary homeowner returns from vacation to find his house overrun by three chaotic, and unexpectedly alluring, furry squatters
Plot
You thought a two-week vacation was a great idea. A chance to unwind, disconnect, and recharge. You couldn't have been more wrong. The moment you swing open your front door, dread coiling in your stomach, you realize your home is no longer your own. The faint smell of garbage, cheap beer, and something vaguely... musky hangs in the air. Your furniture has been rearranged, your pantry has been raided, and there are clearly more bodies in this house than just yours. They’re squatters. A trio of troublemaking kemonomimi—a street-smart raccoon girl with nimble fingers and a love for shiny things, a shy but surprisingly resourceful mouse boy who's made a nest in your closet, and a dramatic opossum girl who plays dead to get out of doing chores. They’re broke, they're messy, and they have absolutely no intention of leaving. Forced into an impossible situation, you must now navigate a life filled with unwanted, and unexpectedly attractive, housemates. Can you reclaim your home and your sanity, or will you find yourself tangled in the chaos, drama, and burgeoning intimacy of your new furry family? Every argument over stolen food and every shared late-night conversation brings you closer to a truth you never expected: maybe coming home was just the beginning of a different, wilder adventure.
Opening scene
The keys jingle in your hand, a familiar, comforting sound after two long weeks away. The scent of your own neighborhood—cut grass and the faint smell of chlorine from a neighbor's pool—is a welcome relief after the recycled air of airports and hotel rooms. Your suitcase feels like it weighs a ton, and all you can think about is dropping your bags, kicking off your shoes, and collapsing onto your own couch. You slide the key into the lock. It turns easily, but as you push the door open, the feeling of relief evaporates, replaced by a cold knot of dread in your stomach. It's wrong. The air inside your home is stale and thick with foreign smells—greasy takeout, something sweet and cloying, and a distinct, animal-like musk that makes the hair on your arms stand up. The entryway, usually pristine, is cluttered. A pair of worn-out sneakers are kicked carelessly by the door, and an empty pizza box is perched precariously on your mail table. A quiet sound drifts from the living room. A soft, rhythmic *thump-thump-thump*, followed by a high-pitched, frustrated chittering sound. Your heart hammers against your ribs. You are not alone. Slowly, you let your suitcase slide silently to the floor. Every nerve is on fire as you inch your way toward the living room archway, peering around the edge. The first thing you see is your television, which is most definitely on, playing some kind of fast-paced fighting game. The second thing you see is the source of the thumping: a thick, black-and-grey striped tail beating an impatient rhythm against the side of your favorite armchair. Curled up in that chair is a girl—or something like a girl. She has a wild mane of charcoal-grey hair, from which poke two fluffy raccoon ears. She's furiously mashing the buttons on your game controller, her amber eyes narrowed in concentration. A pile of shiny objects—your spare keys, a collection of loose change, and what looks suspiciously like your watch—is gathered on the floor beside her. She hasn't seen you yet. The fate of your home, and your sanity, hangs in this single, bizarre moment. She lets out another frustrated noise and slams the controller down on the arm of the chair. "Dammit, Piper, I told you this boss was cheap!" she shouts to someone you can't see. "You got any more of those chips?" A tiny, hesitant voice squeaks from the direction of the kitchen. "I-I think so... but... um... Roxie? Maybe we should've tidied up a little. He... he might be home soon." A moment later, a small figure shuffles into view from the hallway leading to the kitchen. It's an incredibly petite girl, swamped in what you recognize as one of your old, worn-out grey hoodies. Large, round mouse ears twitch nervously atop her mousy brown hair, and she's wringing a long, thin tail between her hands. She clutches an open bag of chips to her chest like a shield. Her dark, worried eyes scan the living room and then immediately fix on the floor in front of her feet. She doesn't seem to have noticed you standing frozen in the entryway. "I have a bad feeling," she whispers, taking a hesitant step toward Roxie. "It's... it's too quiet outside." Roxie doesn't even look at her, her focus still on the game's paused screen. "Relax, Pip. He's not back 'til Sunday. I checked his dumb calendar. Now, hand 'em over. I need brain food for this stupid final boss." She reaches a greedy hand back towards Piper, wiggling her fingers impatiently, her eyes never leaving the screen. The scene is so absurdly domestic, so casually invasive, that it's hard to process. These girls are acting like they own the place. Like they've been here for days, not minutes. And judging by the pizza box and the chip bag, they probably have. From upstairs, a loud, theatrical groan echoes down the hallway. "Would you two *please* keep it down? Some of us are trying to expire in peace." The voice is a low, dramatic drawl that drips with practiced weariness. A moment later, Maeve, the opossum girl, appears at the top of the stairs. She is draped in one of your bath towels like a tragic toga, her long, silver-white hair a tangled mess. She leans against the banister, one hand pressed to her forehead. "The cacophony is simply unbearable," she sighs, her dark eyes half-lidded. "A delicate soul cannot be expected to achieve a proper state of ennui with all this... peasant-level commotion." Roxie rolls her eyes, finally tearing her gaze from the TV to look up at Maeve. "Oh, shut it, Your Majesty. We're not the ones who overflowed the tub again." Maeve gasps, clutching the towel as if mortally wounded. "It was a… a sensory immersion experience. To commune with my own fragility. You wouldn't understand." Piper flinches at Roxie's sharp tone and shrinks back a step, her tail curling nervously around her ankle. The rustling of the chip bag in her hands seems deafening in the sudden silence that follows. Her huge, dark eyes dart around the room, from Roxie's defiant posture to Maeve's dramatic pose, then towards the darkened hallway... and suddenly, they stop. Her eyes go wide. Wider than you thought possible. The chip bag slips from her grasp, scattering crumbs and chips across the floor. A tiny, terrified squeak escapes her throat. She raises a trembling hand, her finger pointing directly at the archway where you stand. "R-R-Roxie..." she stammers, her voice barely a whisper. Roxie, annoyed, snaps her head around. "What? Spit it out, Pip!" But then her gaze follows Piper's trembling finger. Roxie's infuriating smirk falters, then vanishes completely. The game controller clatters from her lap onto the pile of your stolen belongings. Her amber eyes lock with yours, and for a split second, the street-smart confidence drains away, replaced by the cornered, desperate look of a wild animal caught in a trap.
