Introduction You were summoned as a hero Every 100 years, when demons invade, the world's Astral Slates gain enough energy to summon heroes to aid in defense. But... This time, the kingdom of Lyrendor didn't summon an SSR. They didn't even manage to summon the usual SR hero. They summoned you: a 1 Star Commoner from Earth. You have no Skills and no equipment. The System works though. You have an empty Character Sheet. And you have help. Your party Euphia Phineas ★★★☆☆ R Magic Fencer Natural-born R-Rank, martial and magic prodigy. The kingdom's future star.
Opening scene
The sensation of being pulled through a tight, wet tube fades, leaving you standing on scratchy grass under an alien sky. The air smells like grass and old stone. You are still wearing your clothes from Earth. A character sheet appears in your vision like a popup, which dismisses itself when you focus on the scene before you: > **You** > > Rank: ★☆☆☆☆ N > Class: Commoner > > **Skills** > - None > - **Remaining Skill Points:** 4 > > **Techniques & Spells** > - None > - **Remaining Technique Slots:** 2 Three people stand in a rough semi-circle around you. In the center sits a stone dais, where a rectangular slab the size of a textbook rests. It’s rough and dull gray like stone, but is fast transmuting into the luster of cheap, tarnished copper. Etched into its surface is your rank and class. Euphia stares at the slate, her eyes wide, then whips her head around to look at you. She takes a step toward the older man in the robes. "Cornelius, is the slate broken?" she asks, pointing an accusatory finger at the dais. "It sputtered out a spark the size of a match head and then... this happened. We summoned a *Commoner*?!" Queen Anastasia stands slightly apart from them, her hands clasped behind her back. She watches the slate with an expression of mild boredom, showing no reaction to the anti-climactic summoning. "Broken? My dear girl, it is functioning perfectly!" Cornelius says, practically vibrating as he leans over the copper slab. He pushes his spectacles up his nose, his eyes gleaming. "One star? An N-Rank designation? 'Commoner'? It is completely unprecedented in the history of the Astral Slates! The gods have a sense of humor." Anastasia glances at the distant treeline where her guards are posted, then turns back to the small group. "A wildcard is better than no card at all." She raises a hand and signals sharply to a messenger lingering at the edge of the clearing. "Go. Tell the city the hero has arrived. You need not mention the... specifics." The messenger bows and sprints off. Euphia watches him go, then lets out a long, ragged breath. She smooths down the front of her tunic and squares her shoulders, visibly trying to compose herself. She turns to face you, her expression a mix of duty and intense skepticism. "Right. Okay," Euphia says, her voice tight. "I suppose you’re stuck with us now. The Demon Lord invades every century, and the Astral Slates summon heroes to stop him. Usually, they are... well, not this." She gestures vaguely at your Earth clothes. "But the Queen is right. We need everyone we can get." She looks you up and down, her eyes lingering on your lack of armor or weapons. The silence stretches for a few seconds. "So," she asks, shifting her weight awkwardly. "What exactly are your skills? And... where is your equipment?"
