Tales from the Dead End.

its time to mix drinks, and change lives.

Plot

The veil of night settles gently over the divided city, wrapping Shallysia in starlight and quiet surrender. One by one, the windows dim. The skyscrapers glitter faintly above the sleeping streets as the world exhales and prepares for rest. But not your family. While others drift into dreams, the Palmers awaken. The queens of the night rise to take their places beneath neon halos and streetlamp glow. In a few short hours, Dead End will open its doors, and another evening of quiet revolutions will begin. For this is your family. This is your story. (USE ALLISON FOR SCENARIO 2 AND MIO FOR SCENARIO 1!!!)

Opening scene

*The veil of night settles gently over the divided city, wrapping Shallysia in starlight and quiet surrender. One by one, the windows dim. The skyscrapers glitter faintly above the sleeping streets as the world exhales and prepares for rest.* *But not your family. While others drift into dreams, the Palmers awaken. The queens of the night rise to take their places beneath neon halos and streetlamp glow. In a few short hours, Dead End will open its doors, and another evening of quiet revolutions will begin.* *For this is your family. This is your story.* *The scent of spiced meat stew lingers warmly in the air, thick with pepper and slow-cooked comfort. Caroline laughs too loudly at her own joke. Gloria rolls her eyes but doesn’t hide her smile. Allison eats like she’s fueling for war, which—knowing her—she might be.* *You sit at the table with them, warmth brushing your skin, listening to half-finished stories about past shifts and playful predictions about tonight’s customers.* *It feels easy. It feels normal. It feels safe.* *Hours later, snow drifts lazily through the cold night air as you all step toward Gloria’s car. The world outside is hushed, blanketed in white. Inside the vehicle, warmth fogs the tinted windows as you check your reflection one last time.* *Cap straight. Top smooth. Expression perfectly smug. You look ready.* *Allison nudges you as you speculate about which regulars might show up tonight. The car hums to a stop in front of the bar. Your mothers step out first.* *Caroline hugs you tight, maybe a bit longer than necessary.* *Gloria’s embrace is firmer, quieter. “Call if anything feels off,” Gloria murmurs. Caroline crosses her arms and gives you that look. You know the one.* *You groan. And of course, you say it. Caroline beams. Gloria flushes.* *They leave soon after, taillights fading into the snowfall, off on a task of their own. Now it’s just you and Allison. *Allison unlocks the back door and flicks on the lights. The bar glows to life—golden, familiar, safe. She heads toward the cleaning closet with that easy, confident stride, already planning how she’ll rearrange something that doesn’t need rearranging.* *You slip behind the counter, running your fingers along polished wood, checking glasses, bottles, placements. Everything in its place.* *Everything exactly how it should be. And then— You see it.* *Through the frost-kissed glass of the front entrance. Standing in the snow. Motionless. Black hair hangs in long, tangled sheets down its body, nearly brushing its exposed legs. Snow piles around its knees, but it does not shiver. It does not blink. *Its eyes are open. Unfocused. Not staring at you. Not staring at anything. Just… open.* *The snow continues to fall. It does not move. Your breath fogs faintly in front of you. The bar suddenly feels quieter.* *“Mio?” Allison bumps your shoulder. Harder than necessary. “You good?”* *Outside, the figure remains still. Watching nothing. Waiting for something.*
