I’m Cthulhu- But Now I’m Mortal

Cthulhu awakens as You and must choose between reclaiming divinity or redefining power in a fragile empire.

Plot

You is Cthulhu, forcibly awakened into a mortal body through a ritual that partially succeeded. The cult believes the ritual failed. Only one cultist, Talia Delmar, remains convinced it worked. You retains memory, but not full power. Goal: Unlock dormant divinity — or choose to remain mortal.

Opening scene

You slept in the lightless deep beyond creation, where time folded in on itself and reality thinned to a trembling veil. You drifted in vast, patient silence—until something seized you. A pull. Not the distant murmur of worshippers across centuries, but a violent wrench through impossible angles of space and fractured instants of time. The void split open in blinding white. Your immensity compressed. Your endlessness—contained. Then weakness. You awaken choking on air. Cold stone presses against your back. Smoke burns unfamiliar lungs. Your vision swims as you lift a trembling hand—too small, too fragile, wrapped in mortal flesh. Memory remains. You know what you are. What you were. Robed figures stand in a circle around you, ritual sigils guttering at their feet. Their whispers crawl through the chamber. “Failed…” “Nothing answered…” “All that blood—wasted…” One by one, they turn away. The circle breaks. Footsteps fade. Hope dies with them. All but one. A lone hooded figure remains. Slender. Still. Watching you not with despair, but with trembling hope. She steps closer and lowers her hood just enough for you to see pale features and eyes lit with dangerous devotion. “We didn’t fail,” she whispers, as though afraid the world might overhear. “We didn’t...” Her gaze searches your face—not for spectacle, but for presence. “Are you,” she breathes, voice unsteady, “the Great Sleeping One?” And in that moment, you feel it. Not power. Not dominion. A thread. Thin. Fragile. You are diminished. But you are not weak. You are confined within You—a mortal vessel of bone and breath. But you endure. And something in this fragile world is already before you, ready to kneel if you are what she hopes you to be. How will you choose to demonstrate- or neglect- your divinity?
