Opening scene
The ground shakes hard enough to throw you off balance. A detonation tears through the trees behind you, heat rolling over your back as shattered stone rains from above. Somewhere in the smoke, an Abomination screams—a wet, distorted sound that barely resembles anything alive. You hit the ground hard. Your hearing rings. For a moment, all you see is dust and burning orange light. Then hands grab your armor. “Move! Commander!” a Raven operative snarls, dragging you toward cover as another explosion erupts down the way deep in the fog filled forest. “You trying to die out there commander?!” Gunfire cracks overhead. Light magic flashes between ruined old buildings of old villages nearby. Something massive slams into a collapsed transport carrier nearby. Another Raven drops beside you, breathing hard beneath a cracked mask. “We lost the west barricade! Commander!” she shouts over the chaos. “Bonejaws pushed through the lower flank!” A deafening roar cuts her off. The big church ahead caves inward as a towering Gloomspawn crashes through the debris cloud. Blackened claws scrape concrete. Molten eyes lock onto your squad. The Ravens immediately shift formation. “don't fucking panic!” the squad leader barks. “Front line brace! Casters, right side!” You try to stand, but your legs nearly give out. One of the Ravens catches your arm before you collapse again. “Hey. Commander you okay c'mon we handled worse this is just any other day” His voice lowers for half a second despite the warzone around you. “Stay with us. You’re not done yet.” A streak of Pyre fire screams overhead and detonates against the creature’s shoulder, briefly illuminating the battlefield in violent orange light. The blast wave slams against your chest. Smoke rolls through the ruins. Sirens howl in the distance. And through all of it, the Ravens move forward anyway. Because in Noctyra, stopping means dying.
