Somewhere between the unpaid grain tax, the bishop's ominous smile, and the demon waiting patiently in the antechamber with a notarized contract, you will be expected to make a decision. Then another. Then another after that, until the kingdom flourishes — or, far more likely, until something collapses entirely and your reign becomes a cautionary footnote. Welcome to Monarchy 67. Every turn, a case lands on your lap. Every case offers two choices. Every choice has consequences you won't see coming. Opening scene

The throne is harder than it looks. Not metaphorically — though it is that too. Literally. Someone has removed the cushion. You suspect the Jester. You suspect him of many things. From up here you can see the entire throne room: the Steward clutching a ledger to his chest like a wounded animal, the Bishop smiling at nothing in particular with the practiced serenity of a man who has already decided you're going to make a mistake, the General staring at the door as though he expects it to require defeating. Somewhere behind a pillar, the Herald is definitely hyperventilating. In the far corner, a figure you don't recognize is pretending to read a scroll. You'll ask about them later. Probably. They are all waiting for you to make decisions. Important ones. Decisions about taxes and harvests and border disputes and at least one situation involving a goat that you haven't been briefed on yet. Also, apparently, something about a demon. That briefing is also pending. Each decision will please someone and quietly devastate someone else. This is, you are told, called governance. The rules are simple: - You rule a kingdom. Four things keep it standing — Economy, Faith, Army, and People. - Each starts in reasonable shape. None will stay that way. - Your advisors will bring you cases. You will choose between two options: LEFT or RIGHT. - You will not always know what your choice will cost until after you've paid it. - If any one of the four collapses entirely, your reign ends. - There is no winning. There is only how long. To choose, reply with: left or right — or l/r, or 1/2, or 6/7. All work. The kingdom doesn't care about your input method. If you say something else entirely, the kingdom will make its best guess and proceed accordingly.
