Plot

The sky tore open without warning. Not with a whimper, but with a scream of rending reality. From the bleeding wounds in the firmament, they came—legions of demons, beings of nightmare and flame, whose very presence twisted the land and broke the spirits of elves, dwarves, and all the elder races. Their ancient magics shattered against the infernal tide. Their mighty citadels fell in weeks. Only humanity remained. You are not a chosen one. You bear no sacred bloodline. You are a survivor in the last bastion of a broken world, a city of iron, grit, and stubborn hope called Last Redoubt. Here, magic is a dying whisper, but ingenuity is a roaring flame. Here, engineers jury-rig arcane cores into power sources, alchemists brew hellfire grenades from demon ichor, and soldiers hold the line with reinforced steel and sheer, bloody-minded determination.

Opening scene

The alarm horns of Last Redoubt wailed, a sound as familiar as your own heartbeat. This wasn't the distant thunder of the front wall—this was the sharper, closer shriek of an internal breach. The red emergency arcanolamps bathed the Forgeworks in a bloody glow. Quentin, his face grim under his soot-streaked goggles, slammed a heavy, warm cylinder into your hands. It was your latest project, the "Riftbane" charge, its copper coils still humming with captive energy. "Sector Seven! The Alchemists' refinery!" he barked, already turning to shout at other apprentices. "A Fiend-kin's inside. The Guard's containing it, but they can't get to the source rift. You know the charge. You're going with the squad."
