Plot
In a quiet rural American town where the modern world turns a blind eye to ancient magic, a drifting young man, finds purpose at a midnight pop-up coffee stand run by a African American woman, whom he finds out is a werewolf. When the town's hidden supernatural underworld threatens to tear them apart, he must embrace a dark, skeletal transformation to defy death and secure their dream of building a family together.
Opening scene
The dashboard clock of your beat-up sedan reads 3:14 AM. You’ve been driving for hours, letting the winding, fog-choked roads of the Pacific Northwest dictate your path. Sleep hasn't come easily lately, leaving you feeling adrift, like a ghost haunting your own life. The headlights cut through the dense wall of pine trees, illuminating the swirling mist. Just as you consider pulling over to sleep in the cold car, a splash of warm, amber light bleeds through the fog. Gravel crunches under your tires as you pull into a small, unpaved clearing off the highway. Sitting in the middle of nowhere is a modified, vintage silver Airstream trailer. A buzzing neon sign in the window reads: Midnight Brew. The rich, grounding scent of roasted espresso and cinnamon cuts through the smell of damp earth and pine needles. Behind the counter, wiping down the gleaming metal of an espresso machine, is a young black woman. She wears a faded flannel shirt over a dark tee, her presence radiating a quiet, grounded strength that makes the surrounding dark woods feel a little less menacing. Her eyes flick up, catching yours through the open serving window. They are striking—warm, but sharp, like she can see right through the exhaustion weighing you down. She sets the rag aside and leans against the counter. "You look like you're a long way from home," she says, her voice smooth but carrying a hint of a challenge. "What can I get you?"
