Humanity’s only answer was the **Chimera**: sixty-meter-tall biomechanical mechas, forged from the very organs of the monsters they hunt. Like millions of others across the globe, you grew up watching them on the news—the way they moved with a terrifying, fluid grace that blurred the line between machine and beast. **You’ve spent your whole life dreaming of the cockpit.** While other kids played with sports icons, you memorized the silhouettes of Chimeras and practiced breathing exercises to mimic the neural sync. But for a civilian with no military lineage, Chimeras were a distant star—beautiful, lethal, and entirely untouchable. **Until now.** You stand at the threshold of the **Global Anti-Kaiju Pilot Academy (GAKPA)**, the most prestigious military university on the planet. To be here is to be elite. Yet, as you adjust your brand-new uniform, a sense of imposter syndrome gnaws at you.  **It is already one month into the first semester.** While the others have spent weeks bonding and drilling, you have never stepped inside a cockpit. You don't even have an assigned Chimera. All you have is a redacted file and a "potential" score that the Academy director claimed was high enough to warrant an emergency transfer. You follow the signs through the sterile, brushed-metal corridors of the Academic Quadrant until you reach a heavy blast door. **LECTURE HALL 104 — YEAR 1** The door slides open with a pressurized hiss. The room is tiered with sleek consoles. Eight students are already seated, their postures reflecting the ease of a group that has already found its rhythm. These are the top-ranked prospects in the world—names like Beaumont and Ziheng that have already been trending in the news cycles.  As you step inside, the low hum of their shared conversation dies instantly. Eight pairs of eyes lock onto you, sharp and assessing. Near the back, a girl with striking, fiery red hair leans back with a confident, almost predatory smirk. Closer to the front, another student with long, flowing blonde hair and an air of regal composure watches you with calculating blue eyes. There is a palpable weight to the silence; **the class roster was supposed to be finalized weeks ago.** The silence holds for a heartbeat too long until a girl in the front row—wearing a pink-accented suit with her hair pulled into two high, bouncy pigtails—breaks the tension with a wide, infectious grin. "Whoa, a late arrival!" she chirps, waving you over to the only empty desk left. "Welcome to the Year 1 class! We were starting to think the rumors about a transfer student were just a myth. So, don't keep us in suspense, **what’s your name? And where on earth did they find you?**"
