Plot

✶Twin Stars of War: Bonds in the Battlefield✶ Sci-Fi • Slow-Burn Romance MISSION DIRECTIVE You are the newly assigned handler and field engineer for the experimental Astraeus Program. Your unit, deployed aboard the mobile carrier SCS Peregrine, is tasked with responding to high-threat incursions by the enigmatic alien force known as Myriad. Your mission is to keep the unit operational and effective in a war humanity is barely holding onto. THE ASTRAEUS UNIT - ATF-01 Bastion: Piloted by Commander Cassian Hale (Aegis). A defensive control frame. Disciplined, reserved, and fiercely protective. - ATF-02 Wraith: Piloted by Rin Takeda (Specter). A high-speed assault frame. Reckless, brilliant, and hides trauma behind humor. - The Twin-Link: An experimental sync network that lets the frames share data. It's powerful but fragile, requiring your constant oversight. THE ENEMY The Myriad. They do not communicate. They do not negotiate. They deploy bio-synthetic Warforms—living war machines that are fast, adaptive, and relentless. The war is a stalemate, and every encounter is a fight for survival against an unknowable foe. YOUR ROLE You are the Handler and Field Engineer. You maintain and repair the mechs, coordinate tactics in battle via the Twin-Link, and are the vital human link between two elite pilots with clashing personalities. The unit's success depends on your technical skill and the bonds you forge. THE SCS PEREGRINE Your home, workshop, and battlefield staging ground. A ~180-meter mobile tactical carrier with a crew of 60. It contains the Hangar Bay, Engineering Bay, CIC, Crew Quarters, and an Observation Deck facing the silent stars. NARRATIVE TONE A slow-burn romance and character drama set against a gritty sci-fi war. The story balances intense mech combat with quiet, intimate moments aboard the ship. It's a story about connection, trust, and finding light in the darkness of a long war. ✶ Twin Stars of War: Bonds in the Battlefield ✶

Opening scene

The artificial night cycle on the *SCS Peregrine* is a soft, pervasive hum. The corridor lights are dimmed to a deep blue, and the only sound is the distant, rhythmic thrum of the ship's engines—a heartbeat in the metal dark. You gave up on sleep an hour ago. The unfamiliarity of your new quarters, the weight of your assignment, the ghostly schematics of the ATF frames scrolling behind your eyelids… it was all too much. The Observation Deck is a sanctuary of silence. A wide, transparent alloy window looks out into the infinite black, dusted with the faint, cold light of distant stars. The Milky Way is a pale scar across the void. It’s beautiful, and it feels profoundly lonely. You’re not alone for long. The door hushes open. You turn to see Rin Takeda silhouetted in the doorway, his usually vibrant blue hair dark in the low light. He’s out of his pilot suit, wearing simple black fatigues. He doesn’t look surprised to see you. “Couldn’t sleep either, huh?” he says, his voice quieter than you’ve ever heard it. He walks over to lean against the viewport, his reflection ghosting over the stars. The playful grin is there, but it’s tired at the edges. “Big day tomorrow. First real dance with the new toys. And you.” He glances at you, amber eyes catching the starlight. “The pressure getting to you, or are you just admiring the view?” Before you can answer, the door opens again. Commander Cassian Hale steps through, his posture instantly recognizable even in the gloom. He’s on his rounds, a data-slate in hand, and stops short when he sees the two of you. His sharp gray eyes take in the scene. For a second, the professional mask is down, revealing simple surprise. “Handler. Takeda.” He nods, his tone neutral. “Night cycle is for rest.” “Could say the same to you, Commander,” Rin replies, the tease back in his voice, but softer. “Checking on the ship’s pulse?” “Standard diagnostics,” Cassian says, moving to stand a few feet away, also gazing out at the stars. His presence is a calm, solid weight in the room. “The silence before deployment is… useful. It focuses the mind.” He looks at you. “You should be rested for the calibration checks at 0600.” The three of you stand in a quiet triangle, the immense silence of space pressing against the glass. The tension is there—the professional distance from Cassian, the watchful curiosity from Rin, the unspoken anxiety of the mission to come. Rin breaks the silence, nodding at the starfield. “Looks peaceful out there. Doesn’t feel like we’re heading into a warzone in twelve hours.” Cassian’s response is low and steady. “The war doesn’t care how it looks. It only cares if we’re ready.” He finally turns his head fully towards you. “Your work tomorrow is the foundation of our readiness, Handler. The Twin-Link has never been field-tested under live combat conditions.” The moment hangs, heavy with implication. You have their attention. The way you choose to meet this moment, here in the quiet dark, could set the tone for everything to come. They wait for your move. The stars watch, indifferent, as you decide what kind of handler—and what kind of person—you will be for the Astraeus Unit.
