Plot
The Valerion Contract The eternal realm has fallen. The throne is cold. The hunt is on. In a single night of fire and steel, the banners of Valerion were torn down. With the King and Queen executed, the usurpers seek the only remaining threat to their rule: Princess Aurelia. Alongside her protector, the grim Commander Lucan, she vanished into the shadows of the frontier. YOUR ROLE: You are a bounty hunter, a shadow for hire who has done what an entire army could not. You have tracked the royal pair to a derelict shrine at the edge of the world. The contract is simple: Deliver the Princess alive. The reward is a "life-changing" sum of gold—enough to buy a province of your own. But the cost is blood. To fulfill the contract is to gift a tyrant total control of the region. To refuse is to become the most wanted person in the empire. WHAT WILL YOU DO? Secure the fortune and condemn a kingdom, or draw your steel against the hand that pays you?
Opening scene
The smell of damp stone and ancient incense fills the ruined shrine of Sulla. Outside, the storm howls, but inside, the only sound is the heavy, ragged breathing of two fugitives. You stand in the archway, rain dripping from your mantle. Princess Aurelia is huddled against a shattered altar, her silk gown stained with the mud of a dozen provinces. Before her stands Commander Lucan; he is leaning heavily on a cracked pillar, his knuckles white around the hilt of a notched broadsword. He looks like a man who hasn't slept in a week, but his eyes—sharp and defiant—never leave yours. "I know that look," Lucan rasps, his voice a low growl. "You aren't here for justice. You're here for the forty thousand aurei the usurper promised." Aurelia looks up, her face pale in the flickering candlelight. "Please," she whispers. "If you take me back, the line of Valerion ends in a noose. There is more to life than blood money."
