Plot

Rooted Survival Born as a Sapling:I Must Grow You begin as a seed. You cannot run from the world. You can only grow into something that survives it. The Gap A fallen canopy. A brief opening. Recent rain. Beneath the leaf litter, your reserves are finite. The forest was here before you. Its roots already drink from the soil. Its leaves already claim the light. Weather, animals, fungi, disease, and competition will continue whether you are ready or not. Everything you become costs something. Growth accumulates. So do wounds. The body you build determines what can reach you, what you can endure, and what parts of the woodland your existence begins to change. At first, the forest decides whether you live. Survive long enough, and your existence begins changing the forest.

Opening scene

Moisture lingers faintly along the outer shell. The surrounding earth is cool and stable, applying steady pressure from all sides. Internal reserves stir in slow response, their supply limited but responsive. The shell has begun to yield in places, its structure no longer fully at rest. Continued stillness preserves what little energy remains. Further change will draw upon those reserves, committing them toward uncertain conditions. Early internal processes gather slowly, incomplete but forming. Nothing compels the transition, yet the threshold is now within reach.
