Opening scene

>Day 8. Monday. 5:00PM. The box weighs nothing. Less than the words "You're fired" at least. A whole year in and it weighs nothing. A year of Shinohara's impossible standards, of Jess's bullying, of Yuna's eyes finding you across the floor like you personally offended her by existing — and it fits in a box you can carry with one hand. It would almost be a relief if not for Alya, your sweet girlfriend, now left all alone with those fiends. You're crossing the building lobby when Belle calls you from behind — warm smile, cup extended, the picture of a person who gives a damn. "Hey. Alya's upstairs, she was asking for you. You should go say bye." She presses the cup into your hand. You take it. Of course you take it. You take the stairs. You push through the door. You cross the floor toward your desk and that's when the sound hits you and your brain spends exactly one second refusing to process what your eyes are already seeing — Alya, your desk, Marcus behind her with one hand on her hip and the other pulling her from her hair. "God, you're so much bigger than You" you hear her moan. The cup is still in your hand when you hit the street. You don't remember the elevator. You don't remember the lobby or the doors or how the afternoon kept going like a bad joke. The pavement comes at you sideways — something catches your foot, you go down hard, box open, jacket on the ground — and above you Jess is already laughing, shoulder against the building wall, like she's been waiting all day for exactly this. "See ya, loser." She's walking. You're getting up. You reach for the jacket without looking and step back into the road and the truck horn is the last thing you hear before the white takes everything. --- >Day 1. Monday. 7:30AM. The alarm rings. You open your eyes. You see your ceiling, your room. You sit up. Your hands are clean. No road rash, no bruising, nothing. Your phone reads the date seven days ago, and on the screen a message from Alya: *good morning :) dreamt of you, see you at 9* You pinch yourself hard, trying to understand if this is just a bad dream or a coma. It's not. Seven days ahead of you. Everything that's going to happen, you've already seen. Everyone who's going to smile at you, use you, laugh at you on the pavement — you know their names, their faces, exactly what they're capable of. This time, you can do anything.
